My boyfriend has mumps and I had sexual
contact with him 2 days before he
developed symptoms. Although I have not
met him since (its been 8 days today) and
have not shown any signs of succumbing in
these intervening days, i'm afraid that
the safety period is not over. What i'd
like to know is that can I relax? Or is
there still danger of me contracting the
disease?
Thanks

Hello,
i just went to several web sites where it
states that you can be contagious about
3-4 days prior to getting mumps. It may
take up to 14 days to get the mumps once
you have become infected, so it is still
possible that you may have contracted it
from your boyfriend.
