Hand Injury - painful ache
Posted: 10-16-07 03:31am

I understand that without examining my hand it will be difficult to accurately diagnose what is wrong. However some advice on what I could do to aid healing would be great.

About a month ago I punched the floor while drunk (looking back it was a terrible move). I didn't think much of it until I woke up the next day with pain my hand. The pain is here.

After a week or so the pain started to ease and it only hurt when I washed my hands. Especially when I wash the bottom of my hand.

Recently I haven't thought much of it but yesterday I was jabbing a punch bag. Literally jabbing and this morning the pain in my hand has returned.

The reason for my concern is that even that jab has started my problems again. This makes me think that this could become a reoccurring problem.

I know that my hand isn't broken, or fractured for that point. It doesn't hurt when I touch my hand. I can press on it and there is no pain. The pain occurs when I move my hand in certain ways. When I twist my hand and when I lift up my little finger. It also hurts when I write. I would describe the pain as a painful ache as opposed to a sharp pain.

The pain is only in the area specified and it stops hurting as soon as my hand returns back to its resting pose.

Do you have any ideas on what this could be?

Why don't you want to see a doctor about this?

You know for sure that it couldn't be a break because you've had x-rays?

Go see your doctor. It maybe something as easy as splinting it for a few weeks. And why live with something easily fixed?

Fell over yesterday, felt like I split my hand in half. Went to see a doctor, doctor didn't know so has sent me for an XRay. Problem is that I have to wait till late next week to receive a letter with an xray appointment. Then the appointment will probably be the week after.

What was my advice from the doctor. In the mean time try not to do any lifting, diy or anything strenuous with the hand in question... yeah thanks for that doc.
