Can Overexposure to Borax Cause Hair Loss In Women? Posted: 10-16-07 08:39am
My wife was recently exposed to a large
amount of powdered Borax when we were
treating our house to get rid of fleas.
The next day after vaccuming up a lot of
Borax, she began to notice her hair
falling out in large amounts.
I have done some research, and it seems
that some articles point to Borax as a
cause for hair loss, but many also list it
as an ingredient in treating hair loss and
in making homeopathic shampoos. Is it
safe in smaller quantities, but dangerous
in large amounts?
And most importantly, if the Borax is the
cause, is the condition reversable?
Thank you for any help.

The symptoms that will point to borax as
the cause for lost hair include:
* tangled hiar
* hair that splits, or sticks together at
the tips ( and if these bunches are cut
off, they form again)
* hair that cannot be combed smooth.
But then again, 300 prescription drugs are
known to cause hair loss, too. Is your
wife on any medications?
