Pain After Disc Removal Posted: 03-30-04 23:01pm
Back in the beginning of october had had
surgery to remove two herniated discs.
The pain had been reduced by 50% at the
time. Prior to surgery my back never
hurt, the pain was in my hip and in my a
stomach, as a matter of fact it took three
doctors six months and the physical
therapist actually was the one to discover
it was actually my back causing all these
problems. I first did two months of
physical therapy, than the epidural
steriod injection (which actually made my
pain more severe) and the doctor finally
said surgery was the only hope.
I can do whatever I want without pain,
unless I sit or stand in one position for
any length of time. As soon as I sit
even for a minute the pain (pressure)
starts and the pain continues until I take
pain relievers and lay down. I had
another mri done and another epidural
steriod injection, the mri showed three
smaller herinations and lots of scar
tissue. The steriod injection made me
worst again and now my pain is just
slightly less than prior to the surgery.
My current doctor now wants to do a spinal
fusion, this was not done with the first
surgery. I have opted to go for a second
opinion, but just am so fustrated, and
cannot stand the pain anymore. I am
almost at the year mark from the time this
all started. Has anyone else experienced
these same syptoms, any suggestions? I
am so tired of being on pain medication
just to make it through the day. I am
still working as a buyer, and my employer
is so understanding, and cannnot afford to
be out of work anymore. If anyone has
experienced any advice? How did you
manage? What medications did you take?
Does the pain ever go away?
I apologize for the long post but I am at
my witts end and cannot take it anymore.
