? About How to Make Them Stop Spit Uping Posted: 10-16-07 12:15pm
Ok my son is 4 weeks old and the doctor
has changed his formula 3 times now. He
is like the excorist when it comes to spit
up. He does it right after he eats
sometimes or just when I have him laying
down. I have tired putting rice cereal in
his milk and everything. Does anyone have
any suggestions to what I can do?

Sounds like your little one could have
acid reflux. A simple medicine provided by
your doctor could cure that...
Also, my niece was like the exorcist when
spitting up as well. What I did was put
rice cereal in her formula...not
much...enough to make it thicker...
I fed her very little but a lot throughout
the day. It seemed to be better on her
tummy than feeding her x amount of ounces
every 3 or so hours... It ended up being
like an ounce about every hour...

yes it does sound like acid reflux, or it
could be a severe case of wind. also, you
shouldn't really be changing his milk so
often. i think it would be best to get
another doctors oppinion.

does he get rashes?
its possible he could be allergic to milk
products?
or maybe try feeding him in very small
portions more often?
also try dr. brown bottles

We use nothing but Dr. Brown bottles.
They are great!!! My little girl hardly
ever spits up or has tummy aches. We have
also been fortunate to not have had to
deal with colic. I don't know if that has
anything to do with the bottles or not.

Another thing you can try is putting a
rolled-up towel under the crib mattress on
one side to keep him slightly elevated, or
put him to bed in his carseat. Keeping his
head elevated above his tummy might help
things stay down.

My son went through that too, actually
occasionally he still does projectile spit
up. I find that keeping him upright after
a feeding helps a lot.
Changing formulas can also cause them to
spit up, because it takes some times for
their little tummies to adjust to the
swap. Enfamil Gentlease is very good.
