research it. You should always have she
sleep in just footy pj's with nothing else
in her crib.
Honestly everyone with children is or was
scared of sids because its unknow exactly
what causes it. Research prevention
methods, educating yourself is the best
thing that you can do.

I was also paranoid of sids. I swear I've
checked on Kaylee every hour since she was
born, up until 4 months or so ago &
even still, she's a year old now & I
still get up as least once to check on her
in the middle of the night. Like Vanessa
said, research everything, get yourself
educated on all the risks & never ever
put anything else in the crib with the
baby. Not even a blanket. A pair of warm
pj's is all she'll need!

To check if she's too hot or too cold just
feel her tummy. I'm guessing the weather
is a lot warmer where you are, but here it
gets really cold.. so I've bought a super
thick sleepsuit for Jenny & she has a
blanket over her. When she was newborn she
had a normal sleepsuit but had 2 or 3
blankets over her. She was tiny so she
couldn't regulate her body temperature for
a while.
Try not to worry about it.. as long as you
make sure her crib is set up properly,
there are no toys etc in her crib with her
& you check on her every once in a
while, she'll be fine.

Everyone worries about this. Even when i
was really bad with my PPD i still checked
on Mika every few minutes when she was
sleeping. Some research shoes that giving
a baby a dummy at night can cut the risk,
i can't remember why this is but i know
that's what they say, i personally don't
give Mika a dummy. I always make sure her
feet are touching the bottom of her crib,
and that the blanket she has over her is
tucked in so that if she moved around it
couldn't move and go over her head etc. My
health visitor told me that one of the
easiest ways to check a babies temperature
withour disturbing them is to touch their
nose

I think every good parent is afraid of
SIDS to some extent. Warm footed pj's
should do the trick to make sure she's
warm enough. I have also heard that
swaddling lowers the risk too.
I think they have mattress pads that have
alarms that sound if the baby stops
moving. I'm not sure of how they work.
The fact that there is no real reason why
it happens was the most scary thing to me.

Your baby generally feels the way you
feel. If your hot and your wearing only a
t-shirt to bed. then the baby only needs a
onesy. If your cold and your covering
up...cover the baby up. Sids ..... I
thought, didn't have to do with being hot
or cold but with remembering to breathe.
the best thing to do is keep the baby in a
bassinet in your room till you feel
comfortable. Or put them in a room with
another child. There they will here the
rythmatic breathing of an older person and
will breath along with them. I did this
with all my children.

when babys are first born their hands,
feet and faces are generally cold, this is
because their bodies are working hard,
pumping blood to their core organs that
their faces hands and feet dont get enough
circulation of blood. so for the first 6
weeks to check Kristen's temperature slip
two fingers down her chest or in between
her shoulder blades, you will know by
touch whethr she is too hot or too cold
but as i said dont rely on her hands, feet
and faces for 6 weeks. i personally think,
not smoking in your pregnancy, not letting
anyone smoke around you, or kristen whe
shes here, get a room thermometer, the
right temp is 18c followed by a sheet and
a layer of two blankets, or if its above
or below add or take a layer off. you can
also cut the risk by keeping a good
circulation of fresh air in the room, and
by having a half bumper for her cot, not
one that goes all the way round...
research advises parents to have the baby
in the room with them for the first 6
months...
anyway hope i helped, i was also very
scared of sids, still am. but there are
things to prevent it and remember its
rare. keep your chin up

lol i STILL dont get good sleep because
every night i wake up atleast 3 times to
check and make sure the kids are still
breathing lol. ROb gets so annoyed.. i'll
ask him to check when he gets up to pee or
something, and hes like, *oh my GOD,
SANDRA! They're FINE!*
With SIDS... theres nothing much u can do.
Its not really anything u can control.
Hence the *Sudden* part.
With me, i did like MemeWells2 said.. i
dressed them according to how i felt. I
get cold easily just like the kids. And
the second that they started being able to
roll over, i took out the crib bumper.
Only had the baby and *sometimes* if
completely necessary a thin receiving
blanket.

Thats perfectly normal to worry!!! Amelia
slept on my chest for the first few months
of her life. When we started letting her
sleep in her room, I was up through the
whole night checking on her. About 2
months ago I bought the BEST thing ever
made for worrying mothers!! One of those
camera baby monitors!! I LOVE it!
Everytime she makes a noise I wake up and
look at the screen to see whats shes
doing. Usually shes just turning over lol.
INVEST IN ONE!!!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!
Crib bumpers are great when the baby
starts rolling over. In my opion anyways.
Because amelia hits her head constantly on
the bars! Everymorning!!

That depends on who you talk about them
to. I had crib bumpers in my daughter's
crib until she could wiggle around. But
some people prefer to have nothing at all
in the crib - no toys, no stuffed animals,
etc.
Do what YOU feel comfortable with. Do your
research and make your choices. You are
the mom

I HAD the bumpers in the crib until she
started scooting around and rolling over.
They have a higher chance of scooting
themselves up to it and suffocating.
The wood in cribs is very light, so the
sound of them bumping their heads SOUNDS
worse than it really is! loL!
They have MESH bumpers though. That are
breathable incase they DO snuggle up to
it. But can still save their heads!! loL!
Oni had a pillow in her crib when she
turned like 6 months...maybe a little
younger. It started as a way for her not
to vomit her food! lol!!
