Headaches After I Nearly Broke My Face! Posted: 10-17-07 17:58pm
About 1 1/2-2 years ago I fell onto the
sidewalk face first from a standing point.
The left side of my face took all the
impact. The area around my upper
cheekbone/eyebrow/eye immediately began to
swell. I looked like that character from
the goonies! My eye was swollen shut for
2-3 days after. I had a black eye for
weeks after. Now, almost 2 years later it
still hurts on the spot where my face hit.
And every once in a while I'll get these
really bad headaches. I'm wondering if the
headaches are at all related to the fall.
Also, do you think my cheekbone or
something in that area might have been
fractured? I never went to see a doctor
for the fall. Thanks in advance! =)

Possibly.
You may have experienced small fractures
that haven't healed.
Can you get an X-ray?

I don't have health insurance right now. I
will soon, though. I'm nearing the end of
the 6 month wait to qualify for insurance
at work.
What if there are fractures? Would it be
serious? What would the doctors do?

Do you have areas of numbness or tingling
on the face?
Do you sometimes complain of pain in the
cheek on movement of the jaw?
Can you noticed if the left cheek is more
sensitive on touch, cold or warmth?
Do you have face deformity?
Do you feel intensive pain when you're
opening the mouth?
Coronal CT scan of facial bones often is
used to better evaluate these fractures if
they exist.
