I've got Pregnancy Medicaid. It covers anything that my primary insurance wont cover. So yes it's free. (my primary insurance only covers comlications). It also covers all my meds that I have to get from the pharmacy.

She is in the states though. And there is free prenatal care available to her. She just has to go to her local DSHS office and apply.

If you get accepted for pregnancy medicaid then you should go to your local WIC offie as well to get assistance there as well.

WIC helps out. I get 6 gallons of milk, 36 ounces of cereal (3 12oz boxes), 2 pounds of cheese, 16 oz jar of peanut butter/or a bag of dry beans, and 4 things of juice each month. There may be more but this is all I can think of off the top of my head. But beleive me it helps out alot!

I don't know. I know you are suppose to get a good bit of calcium. I drink all the milk I get though. Between drinking it alone, eating cereal, making pancakes, and using it in baking it goes pretty quick!

I get pregnancy medicaid and what my insurance dont cover, the medicaid is used as secondary!!! It really helps out alot!!!!I also get WIC as well. I signed up when I was around 5 weeks. I am not sure if it is the same where you are but where I am, I get some of the cereal and if you eat grits, it is considered a "hot" cereal so I can get that as well... just an fyi if you didnt know.... But it does come in handy expecially the cheese and milk. I LOVE cheese!!

yeah I know about the grits but I don't eat them enough. Do you know if NC provides a breast pump to mothers who breastfeed? I've heard that some states do. What part of NC are you from?

This is only what I heard in a mommies group I belong to. But the people there are from all over the states. And I'm sure each state is different. But I have a WIC appointment this Wed. so I'll ask then and let you know for sure.
