I took Paxil maybe 7-8 months ago and
remember it being a very weird period of
time for me. I don't know if it worked
very well, because I still had panic
attacks and whatnot. But at the same time,
I was very depressed and smoking heavy
amounts of marijuana, as well as doing a
variety of benzodiazepines for
recreational use. So I can't say that
Paxil was a negative or positive
experience for me since there were so many
other factors affecting its use.
I just remember having somewhat a lack of
feelings or emotions, maybe it was the
Paxil or maybe it was just me during that
time of my life with everything that was
going on. I remember having some extremely
weird dreams while on Paxil. I had very
heavy sleep which was hard to wake up out
of and the dreams were almost lucid, as if
I knew what was going on in them and had
control over my actions.
Since then, I was heavily depressed.
Eventually I met a girl who changed my
life, I soon started becoming less and
less depressed. I was a completely changed
person, even quitting weed completely.
Long story short, I broke up with this
girl recently, which was really hard for
me to deal with since I had never been in
love with a girl before. This didn't
bother me too much though. But since then,
it feels like things are just getting
worse in other aspects of my life. I'm
feeling very irritated about everything
again and even started smoking pot again,
but not nearly as much as I used to. I'd
say about 1-2 times a week. I'm getting
depressed again, I don't talk to my family
the same way. I'm much more quiet than
before and I don't know whats wrong.
I went to my doctor and got a prescription
for Paxil again. I will be taking 20mg
everyday and just took my first dose
today. I was just wondering if anyone has
any positive experiences with Paxil? I
used to be strongly against
antidepressents, especially Paxil, but at
this point I feel like maybe it will work
since things have changed since my last
experience.

How do you know your anxiety and anger
aren't caused by the other drugs you take?
It sounds like you are taking other drugs
also during your depression.
What will you have to lose if you take the
paxil? There are other anti-depressants if
paxil doesn't help you or help you feel
better.
Anti-depressants work better with therapy.
Are you getting some therapy?
Good luck!

Paxil works fairly well with mild to
moderate depression. I use to take it and
it is very good for someone who has to
keep and open a straight headed mind
during the day. You can still usually
think well and perform well on it. Believe
it or not, that is what I took while
working as an office manager at a doctors
office. That is why I liked it so much. It
did not alter my mood at all. Just did
it's job on my depression.
I wish you the best of luck. And like Ingi
said, you might want to think about also
getting some theropy along with it. Pills
can only do so much and we have to do the
rest.

What was that mrsbuzski?
Paxil can be really helpful- and if you
feel dull or lifeless on it, you can
always try a different antidepressant or
try to get your dosage adjusted. It always
takes some fine tuning to make sure you
are taking the right thing for you.

anxiety and depression. My mood is so much
better than before.I have been on zoloft

work out for you then go to your doctor

Different antidepressants affect people
differently, I'm on effexor, I've heard
horror stories about it and complete
success stories, such as mine. A friend of
mine went through 6 antidepressants, each
affecting him negatively until he found
one that worked well. Your experiences
with medications will very, there are
always other options, so tell your doctor
if the side effects outweigh the anxiety
it is supposed to be helping with. If they
are minor side effects it can often be
fixed with a change in dosage or the time
of day you take the medicine. He will wain
you off one and on to another, do this
WHILE getting therapy from a
psychologist/psychiatrist. Therapy helps
just as much as medications, so using them
in combination is a slow but effective
process. Hang in there, you'll find
something that works for you. And
remember, medication alone isn't a
miracle, it almost always takes work and
learning anxiety management to overcome
it.
