Tri-nessa: Stopping Birth Control/side Effects
Posted: 10-18-07 08:09am

Hi.

I have been taking TriNessa for a couple of years and I have no felt like myself since I started taking it. (Fatigue, weight gain-not much like 15 pounds, major decreased sex drive, etc.). I have decided to quit my BC. Plus, I am now starting a medicine called Topamax, which reduces the effectiveness of BC.

I have read many horror stories about TriNessa and stories about quitting BC. Many women have complained about hair loss.
Has anyone had this happen to them?
Has anyone else taken Trinessa and had a problem with it?

I quite my BC about 5 days ago and I don't know why, but I have more energy and I feel like my sex drive is coming back. (Good for my husband).

I would love to hear about anyone else's experience with stopping BC, problems/side effects with BC, taking TriNessa.

Thanks.

Trinessa And Increased Anxiety/panic Attacks
Posted: 10-21-07 01:17am

Hi there,
I have been taking trinessa for the last 3 or 4 years, and before that another generic of Ortho Tricyclin. I have not noticed weight gain, or fatigue but I have had increased anxiety and a few panic attacks.

I have begun to believe that my panic attacks are caused by the pill. I only began getting them when I started using BC pills.

I am going to do an experiment and stop for a while to see what happens. I have never liked the idea of taking artificial hormones. And this is as good a time as any to stop.

I don't know if anyone else has found the same side effects, I would be interested to know if anyone has.

Cheers.

If you didn't lose hair while on the pill, you won't lose it from going off the pill.

Have you tried any other pills? You might find another that works perfectly for you. I had really similar side effects from the mirena IUD, but everyone reacts differently to everything.

Hair Loss When Taking Trinessa
Posted: 12-20-07 18:39pm

I am not stressed or anything.I thought it was just normal shedding but I have experienced a significant amount of hairloss while taking this prescription which makes me very upset. I went to the gyno and spoke to her about it and she was unaware of that being a side effect. But, I am glad that I was not crazy in thinking that this was the culprit. I have been taking it for two mths and no other drugs. I am wondering if all BC does this, because I am going to stop taking this generic brand after it runs out this mth...Any thoughts?

I think hair loss is caused by excessive androgens? If so, other bc's might work just fine since the amount of androgen varies by pill.

No, they shouldn't all have that effect. It's actually pretty rare, so if you switch you should be ok, but it's all up to your body.

Trinessa And Me.
Posted: 12-31-07 06:33am

i have just realized that trinessa has made me depressed. i got an email from my bestfriend and i just started crying because i was remembering all of the fun times and things i used to love that i have lost interest in.

i cried and i told her that something was wrong with me. and i noticed it started to happen after my birthday which was in march. i started taking trinessa in april. i couldnt figure out why i wanted to take myself away from fun things, people i love. ive always been high spirited. and ive noticed ive been faking it cause i dont know how to tell someone i just feel so sad. after i sent her that email i just tried to figure out what has changed since the beginning of the year. and bam! i remembered that when i was about to start trinessa i googled it and read about girls getting depresed. and i didnt think it would happen to me. and now that i'm reading about hairloss my mom has complained about that. i think i'm finally happy that ive figured out whats been making me feel so terrible.

Actually I just started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo because of the mood problems I was having on Tri Nessa. Before I got my last period I did seem to have a great amount of discharge aswell.. Everything seems to be fine now that I've changed. So maybe it is the pill.

I thought it could have been a yeast infection also but I didn't have any of the itching or symptoms I read either. Then my period came and I've been fine. I switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and it's $30 a month!! I was like this better work!! Cause there's no generic the woman at the pharmacy said.

Well, I wouldn't trust the ads, it's all just money. But if it works for you, great! Stick with it!!

It takes quite a few years for the generic forms come out, the patent has to expire before other companies can replicate it.

Yeah, you should generally give any new birth control for 3 months before you give up on it, unless the side effects are really bad.
