I'm on my 10th day with a sore
throat. It started as a severly sore
throat, could hardly swallow, swollen and
sore glands in the neck accompanied with
some mild flu like symptoms (fatigue,
slight fever, nasal congestion &
diareaha). The flu symptoms faded after
72 hours. However, the sore throat
remained. It did seem to get better for
a day. But returned the following day
accompanied with a dry cough. The cough
is very slight at day but uncontrollable
and chronic at night especially while
trying to sleep. In the morning it
fades, but becomes a congested cough with
yellow plhem. During this time I lost
my voice almost completely for 48 hrs. It
has since returned, but is still strained
and not up to par. I've also noticed a
slight ear ache radiating from my throat,
and the back of my neck is somewhat sore
and tight. So finally went to a doctor
3 days ago and explained the above
symptoms. Doc took a strep test, and I
was given amoxicyllin prescription just in
case. The intial test came back
negative, and just found out the culture
results were also negative. However,
was recommended, regardless of results, if
not feeling better by today to start
taking presciption and see what
happens. I have not done so yet, just
been trying to get rest, staying hydrated,
and keeping ibuprofin to a minimal. My
throat is still sore, tounsils and uvula
are still quite swollen and red with a few
specs of white. Swelling in neck has
seemed to go down, but is still
tender. I still have a slight radiating
earache, and cough is still persistant
especially while laying down. I've also
noticed as of last night that I had a dull
sensation as if something was stuck in the
right side of my throat, but not as
prevelant today. Also I have 2 small
bumps on either side of the roof of my
mouth that are not really discolored or
sore, but did not notice them 48 hours
ago. Anyone with input would be greatly
appreciated.
