i am actually doing great Smile

i am down to wearing my splint only at night, but basically i put it in after dinner and then i don't take it out until my first meal of the day. i plan on doing that until next saturday. then i will go to just night time.

i am still taking my muscle relaxors, and i am still feeling a soreness up by the tmj area.

i can ALMOST open as normal as i could before. which is fabulous. i can also eat normal food.

im sorry to hear that you are still so sore Sad and have seen 0 improvement, that totally stinks. :/

i leave for my cruise job a week from tomorrow, so luckily this all couldn't have happened at a better time. i don't know what i would have done if i had to cancel this job.

good luck and i found that applying ambesol / oralgel down around the gums and where the splint hugs before putting it in REALLY helped. my sores kept moving around but after using that every time it went in, i am now sore free. it only feels tight sometimes on one side... which worries me because it is my wisdom tooth side... but enough worrying!!!

i wish you the best!!

Sorry I didn't find your name but please read this message very carefully.

My wifes Dentist sold her a small bite splint called an NTI. This is a splint that hooks to the top front teeth. He said she was grinding her teeth which we have since found out that she does not. She did have a clicking jaw as do I and numerous other people. She had no pain prior to the splint but did have an overbite. The first couple of weeks she had headaches from the splint and was given a prescription for pain from the Dentist. He never saw her for any adjusments. After a couple of weeks the headaches went away so she continued to wear the splint 24/7 as she was told by her Dentist. About 4 months later she noticed that her overbite was gone, her teeth now matched. Now please read the rest very carefully!!! Within hours of her teeth matching, she yawned!!! Her jaw on the left side dislocated!!! They call this anteriorly dislocated and distorted disc on the left with no evidence of recapture.

Now my wife is maimed for LIFE!!! She has severe pain from the top of her head to her shoulder most of the time, She can't open her mouth only barely far enough to get a teaspoon in it, she can't chew, and no one has been able to help much. We have been to several oral surgeons, None of which recomend surgery as she may be worst later on. We have been to Cleveland Clinic, several other Dentists, of which one has been able to help with the pain some. He made her a full splint and makes adjustments often to help the pain.

We are only telling you this because we don't anyone to be in this situation. It's horrible!!!
PLEASE!! Get another opinion and remember most of these Dentists are in bed together!!!!!!!
