Bio Identical Hormones Still Flushing ??
Posted: 10-18-07 16:18pm

I am 45, been on Bio identical hormones since sep 15 and found for the first month my hideous symptoms of hot flushes, nausea. sleeplessness and headaches went away after a week.
Now they have all returned.
I am on
BIEST 0.62
DHEA 2.5
T 0.18
Progesterone 37.5
ALL Cream
My saliva test results in the midst of this when I stopped for a day showed that I had poor liver clearance which I found very odd as I thought the cream bypassed the liver. But all hormones were in balance.
Why is it happening? I had one period (last one March maybe although I was fsh very low in Sep). when I stopped to do the saliva test. That was Sep 29. Sad

First of all the saliva test is virtually worthless. You need a blood test to really determine levels.

Creams are so hard to administer and monitor. I tried them and never felt I got the right amount or that they even worked.

I have bioidentical hormone pellets implanted in my hip every 3-4 months. They release a steady amount and only what my body needs. I get estrogen and testosterone. They changed my life drastically for the better.

Hi hollyhalo,
I have had great success with creams. I find them easy to administer and monitor. My doctor says that one should use whatever works out best for the individual person.

It could be that your levels are fluctuating. When someone is going thru menopause the levels aren't going to necessarily stay the same as the ovaries may still be emitting hormones, just in reduced amounts.

My doctor thinks that the blood test is a better indicator of what is going on. It may be that you need to do several tests over a period of time to see what the ovaries are doing.

I had some liver issues, so my doctor has me taking milk thistle. I have been taking it for about 3 years now. Ever since than my liver enzymes are really good. You may want to ask your doctor about the milk thistle.

I was on topical gels & statically dosed bhrt for nine months last year, and they did not get rid of many of my symptoms. Now on Wiley Protocol, and things couldn' t be better. Hard to say what works for who.

38 years menopause migraines biodentical hormones
Posted: 06-22-08 22:03pm

I have been suffering from hormonal migraines 3 days/month during my period for about 10 years. At 38 now, health & normal weight and after having my second baby 19 months ago, my hormonal migraines have become debilitating besides feeling extremely tired. I am in desperate search of a better option rather than being back to birth control pills Loestrin Fe 24 or Imitrex/Frova medication. Finally 3 months ago and after being w/ the same obgyn for 5 years I searched for a new opinion and found a new doctor who suggested a 30 days saliva test. Her diagnosis was hormonal fluctuation ( higher levels of estrogen & lower levels of progesterone)and adrenal glandule fatigue. She prescribed natural biodentical progesterone made by a compound pharmacy to be use for 7 days one week before my period + vitamins suplement + eliminating white carbs/ sugar from my diet. A second doctor also suggested the use of Estreva Gel (estradiol) by Merck to be use daily. I have been serching for information about biodential hormones everywhere, bought Suzanne Sommer's book and have been searching the internet. Does anyone suffers like me?
