Shoulder Injury -four Years And No Actual Diagnosis. Posted: 10-20-07 17:08pm
My right shoulder started popping about
four years ago. I went to my primary
doctor and he suggested lifting weights.
Six months later I already noticed some
weakness in my right arm. And six
months after that my wrist really started
hurting to I went to an orthopedic
surgeon, he diagnosed me with something, I
was in physical therapy, got a little
better but my therapists were really
worried about the popping of my shoulder.
I asked my surgeon on a follow-up
appointment and he said I was always going
to have it, there was no problem.
A few months later I could barely write
with my right arm because it would start
hurting, sometimes it would start
discolouring, feeling numb and tingling
and was still weak, but physical therapy
helped a little with that. Then another
few months, my other arm starts doing the
same thing, the pain,the tingling,
weakness and discolouration gets more
frequent. Fast forward to the summer of
2006 both arms are so bad I can barely
move them, and they hurt constantly, very
badly and my the top of my back (scapula)
have also started hurting a lot.
I saw a nuerologist who did an MRI on my
brain and cervical area, a ultra sound on
my arms, and an EMG on my arms and he
found nothing. I then went to see a
Rheumatologist about a month later who
diagnosed me with Scapulaucostal syndrome,
saying my scapula have turned at an angle,
winged, and were rubbing into my ribs. I
was in physical therapy for about six
months and feeling better, not hurting as
much, but I'm still very weak.
Then my neck starts hurting last May.
There's lots of pressure, sometimes feels
like my head is going to explode from the
pressure. Two nights ago I couldn't even
stand up for anhour and a half it hurt so
much. This was was diagnosed as
myofascial pain syndrome. However, my
shoulder is still popping and I'm still
weak, and hurts still sometimes. My
newest physical therapist thinks my
shoulder in unstable and that is what's
causing everything.
We took an MRI and X-ray of my right
shoulder and found nothing that could
cause instabiliy. When he grabbed onto my
ac joint and told me to pop my shoulder, I
can usually do it at will, I couldn't. It
also hurts a lot when there's any pressure
around my shoulder. But my orthopedic
surgeon wants to do exploratory surgery in
a few days. But what can cause this
instability that doesn't show up on an MRI
or an X-ray? And if it's so common, why
hasn't anyone found this out before four
years?
