Q: Menstrual Type Cramping?

I'll be 25 weeks this Monday. For the past week (give or take a day or so) I've been having menstrual type cramping. Not constant but on and off. It usually is in my lower belly and sometimes is in my lower back and ocasionally it's in both my back and belly at the same time around my hips. It dosen't hurt so bad that I would need relief via meds, it just feels like my period is coming. I have an appointment this Wed. and another this Fri. Anyone else have this or have any opinions? Thanks!

oh yeah, and myy baby has been tightening up in my lower belly today alot. It feels like she's gonna come through my skin. She's probably tightened up a total of 5-6 times.

Do you think they might be Braxton hicks contractions? If it happens more than four times in an hour you need to go to labor and delivery.

I have no clue what BH feels like. I've never been pregnant before so I have no clue. I'm a worry wart! I'm at high risk for preterm labor do to my bicornuate uterus. So every little thing freaks me out.

i dont think its braxton hicks at 25 weeks.

its most likely your muscles and tendons in that area adjusting to the increasing weight of the baby. I had that with both of my babies. As long as u arent spotting dont worry.

could be ligament pains
alot of women get them around that time in pregnancy
i dont think its BH but it sure does sound like it. i dont know if they can happen that early but it might be possible

does yur lower back feel strained too? if so its exactly what i went through aroun22-23 weeks. it might be growing pains. that baby is getting bigger and has less and less room in your tummy to move around Smile so you can feel her more

Well, it's not too early for Braxton Hicks. I've been having them since I was 17 weeks along. My mom had them all throughout her pregnancies. It really freaked me out the first couple of times. I asked my doctor about it and he said it's not very uncommon. Some women just have very sensitive uterus' and begin to feel things a lot earlier. Your uterus contracts throughout your whole life even though you may never know it. My mom and I also had extremely painful menstrual cramps so I've wondered if maybe there is a correlation with that and early BH.

They are right, even though a stupid nurse told me there was no set number to go by. If you have more than four in an hour it's time to call the doc. The best thing to do to make it better is drink lots and lots of water and lie down. Last time I was having too many I drank some water and took a two hour nap and they went away.

yep its 4 hr or if they are really close together

its hard to keep track sometimes but try writing it down whenever it happens and how long it lasts for each time

How long do they normally last? Or should they last? I think my belly stays tight for probably about 20-30 sec. Maybe?!?! Not really sure, never thought I needed to time them.

Whenever I have them, they don't last more than 30 seconds.

That sounds about right. Just drink water and get used to them really. You'll have them periodically from now on probably.

Yeah... they said BH contractions feel a lot like the real thing, just less intense. I never had any though.

My contractions during labor felt like the worst menstrual cramps, EVER! Like I was being gutted like a fish Sad
