Is This Diabetes? Posted: 04-01-04 11:31am
It started about 2 yrs ago. Everthing
gets infected finger, tear duct, infection
from finger went into bloodstream and I
was soo sick. Pull a piece of skin
around my thumbnail.. Within 3 weeks I
lost the entire nail. Then there were
boils. As soon as one would heal
another would appear around
vagina/buttocks area. After a dozen or
so of those I went to the doctor for a
antibiotic. I worked 3rd shift and I
woke up one night feeling funny...Take a
shower,i'll feel better. Nope! I
felt worse. I had never felt this way
before. Went to er my pulse was 125
and my heart was out of rhythm. This
hasn't happen often but always when I
first wake up, lying in bed. I'm not
thirsty until I go t sleep, then I can't
get enough. Same thing with sweets.
First of all sugar puts me to sleep and I
wake up during the night craving sweets.
I've noticed that if I don't eat them, I
feel awful the next day...Out of
sorts,dizzy,sick to stomach. Last
thing...I am tired all the time and I can
sleep for days, wake up and still want to
go back to sleep. I'm so tired of
feeling this way...If u might know please
reply...Iam 47 yr. Old

Diabetes mellitus is an inability to
metabolize carbohydrates resulting from
inadequate insulin production or
utilization. Other forms of diabetes
(such as diabetes insipidus) are not
included in this discussion.
There are two types of diabetes mellitus,
type 1 and type 2. This article concerns
type 2 diabetes, which has also been
called adult-onset diabetes or
non-insulin-dependent diabetes. However,
type 2 diabetes may also affect children
and may also require treatment with
insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the
pancreas often makes enough insulin, but
the body has trouble using it. Type 2
diabetes frequently responds well to
natural therapies.
Chromium helps to regulate blood sugar
level and indirectly affects level of fats
in the blood. Alpha-lipoic acid may treat
symptoms of nerve damage in people with
diabetes and may improve the
glucose-lowering action of insulin.
Vitamin b complex 50 helps produce enzymes
that convert glucose to energy and may
also aid in preventing diabetic nerve
damage. Flaxseed contains essential fatty
acids that protect against nerve damage
and keep arteries supply. It also works
to lower cholesterol level, and thereby
protecting against heart disease.
Antioxidants, including vitamin c, vitamin
e and phytonutrients in bilberry, prevent
damage to the nerves, eyes, and heart.
Gymnema may increase insulin production or
increase insulin release. Taurine may
improve insulin sensitivity and decrease
cholesterol level. Zinc is an essential
mineral that is a component of enzymes
needed to repair wounds, maintain
fertility in adults, help cells reproduce,
preserve vision, boost immunity, and
protect against free radicals, among other
functions. Copper is needed with
long-term use of zinc, because zinc
inhibits copper absorption.
