Drinking During Early Pregnancy Posted: 10-21-07 21:34pm
I did a lot of heavy drinking (every
weekend almost) before I found out I was
pregnant (6 weeks). I know know one can
say how much damage was done but what are
the chances I really harmed my baby?
I've obviously stopped drinking as soon as
I found out.

I'm really not sure, hon. There's a
possibility that your baby is just fine.
The best advice is what you've already
done, which is to stop drinking. Hopefully
your doctor will be able to tell via
ultrasound if everything is still on-track
with your baby.
I know that didn't tell you much. I'm
sorry. I don't know if anyone will be able
to tell you what the chances are.

almost everyone I know got drunk or drank
a lot right before they found out (me
included) and we all have perfect babies.
That is the rough part about it, they have
no idea how much alcohol can cause damage.
I will say I drank heavily for 2 weekends
in a row before I found out(at 5 weeks)
and my baby is perfect.
All you can do is stop and see what
happens, I wouldnt stress though, there
isnt anything anyone can do now but it
happens a lot more then you think.

I didn't drink at all for about two months
before I found out I was pregnant. Not on
purpose, I just didn't want to spend all
my money on booze!
But I really don't think you have anything
to worry about :]

I was quite the wild child before finding
out I was pregnant.
I was terrified when I found out , I had
done some pretty hard drinkign myself.
Everything turned out fine and Bella is
perfect.. everyone is different, and I
completely understand the guilt that is
associated with it.
All I have to say is it happens all the
time, and the babies are fine. So long as
you take good care of yourself and quit
the bad habits during pregnancy Im sure
everything will be fine.
When I discussed it with my doctor , he
pretty much told me me stressing about it
was probably worse for the baby then the
few times I drank, obviously it's not a
good thing, but sometimes these things
aren't planned and you really have no way
of knowing your doing anything wrong

I wouldn't worry too much.... Out of all
of my friends, I was the worst when it
came to partying.... drinking,
smoking,drugs....you name it, i did it,
and drank while I did it too... As soon as
I found out I was pregnant, I stopped it
all cold turkey, and my daughter is
absolutely fine.
If I remember correctly, I found out I was
pregnant on a Friday, and I had just had a
pretty out of control weekend before that,
and had smoked weed pretty frequently that
week. I always used to be worried though
about when I did that stuff, what if I was
pregnant and I didn't know it... But like
I said, everything was fine.
