Q: Can't find the baby's heartbeat : should I worry?

I learned that my blood type was A so that's good.
I learned that I don't have any STD's which is also good, not that I was worrying.
She said my uterus was growing "beautifully".
She tried to hear the heartbeat of the baby but couldn't find it yet, and I'm ten weeks. She said it was still a little bit early to hear it and they will try again next time, but I'm still really worried.
I'm glad everything, for the most part, is okay but do I really have anything to worry about?

Sounds like you had a great appointment! My doctor never tried to listen for the heartbeat until I was 14 weeks along. As long as your doctor didn't seem concern, I wouldn't worry. Smile

not everyone gets an early u/s.

10 weeks is still early. i think the average for hearing it via doppler is 12 weeks.

i wouldn't worry! they can feel if your uterus is the size it should be.

what part of maine are you in?

I live in Bangor, Bridget. Smile
And yes, the baby's heartbeat was visible by sonogram last visit, so I'm not totally worried.

I guess it just depends on where you are and how things are done in your area. I had a u/s @ 5wks and wasnt able to hear the hb but i could see it as a blinking light or something on the screen and that was because I went to a free clinic for a pregnancy test. While I was there, they offered me an u/s but their machine didnt have a doppler... It wasnt until I was 10 weeks when I went to my first OB visit and was actually able to hear the h/b. But like everyone else keeps saying, as long as your doctor says you are ok dont worry!! Smile

yes it depends on the dr how many/when you will get ultrasounds
ive had quite alot throughout my pregnancy though
one i had to pay for myself
you can always pey to have an ultrasound done too if thats something you want to do

i didnt get to hear the heartbeat until 13 weeks so i wouldnt be worried unless they didnt see anything on the dopplar.

I heard Mika's heartbeat at my first scan when i was 12/13 weeks. Two scans is what everyone gets over here unless they suspect a problem or if you want to pay to get a 4D scan done. I had 3 in total, 12, 20 and 30 weeks. The 30 week one was because she was too small though

Don't worry about not hearing the heartbeat at 10 weeks. I had an appt. at 11 weeks and they still couldn't find the heartbeat on doppler despite trying forever, so I ended up with a quickie ultrasound instead, and the baby was just fine.

They found the heartbeat by doppler at my 15 week appt. without much trouble.
