hello.I would like to ask a very imp
question plz.I'm a person with a plus
cylinder astigmatism . I have a power of
+0.25 cyl +3 axis 100 BC 8.6 Dia
14.50 (right eye) & power +1 cyl +3
axis 70 BC 8.6 Dia 14.50 (left eye).
Can anyone tell me what is an equivalent
prescription for this if the cylinder sign
is changed to minus. I read on the
internet that a prescription of +2+1x120
is equivalent to +3-1x030 but i didn't
really get the concept behind it or how
it's done so can anyone (preferably a
doctor) tell me my exact lens parameters
with minus cylinders ?Thanks alot !

Why can't you ask a prescription lens
specialist at a specialty store? Are you
trying to fill a prescription?

according to -- Barry Santini, Master

Opticians:
I Googled far and wide for information on
astigmatic measurements within eyeglass
prescriptions. Amazingly, I could never
get an answer to whether axis was measured
CW or CCW, from the 9 o'clock position.
Wikipedia finally came to the rescue.
It's CCW:
The Axis is the horizontal, vertical or
diagonal angle of the cylindrical
correction. The axis is measured in a
clock face that starts with zero degrees
in the 9 o'clock (or west) direction, and
increases through 90 and 180 degrees in a
counter-clockwise direction.
Your prescription deviates in form from
all the examples I have seen on the
internet. Look at Wikipedia's example,
and post again. What might "BC" mean?
