Hi Everyone
About 7 yrs ago I was diagnosed with
Palindromic Rheumatism, by my Rheumy
because of the intermittant nature of my
Arthritis. All blood results were normal.
About 3 yrs ago it became more progressive
and an MRI Scan of my hands showed
Sinovitis within the small joints. My
Rheumy then changed my diagnosis to
Inflammatory Arthritis.
I suffer with morning joint stiffness
(lasting about an hour), painful joint and
tendon below thumb on right wrist, right
knee pain and giving way, lower back
stiffness, general pain in fingers and
small joints of the hands. Pain in ankles,
achilles tendons, heels and feet. My right
little toe is now curling leaving a bony
lump on the joint at the side of my foot
and have a bony lump on the top of my
foot. Have just had a bone X-ray of this
but result was normal.
Six immediate family members on my
mother's side, have Psoriasis but I have
never had the rash or any nail
involvement.
Because I am sero-negative my Rheumy has
ruled out RA and says that he does'nt have
enough to go on for Psoriatic Arthritis
either. Can anyone suggest how I can get a
more specific diagnosis as being in
'limboland' is getting me down.

Blood tests used for diagnosing types of
arthritis include:
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR or
Sedrate)
Rheumatoid Factor (RF)
HLA B27 Typing
Antinuclear Antibody (ANA)
C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Lupus Erythematosus (LE) Test
Anti-CCP
Anti-DNA and Anti-Sm
Have you received all of these specialized
tests? Maybe your first task will be to
make sense of your medical records?
I was diagnosed with RA in 2001, put on
dmards later enbrel + methotrexate, then
when that quit working (and my original dr
moved away) I was put on Humira + mtrx (by
a PA) that didin't work well. A new Rheumy
entered the scene and because I didn't
have much joint erosion and I do have
Sjogren's she decided I had primary
Sjogren's but ordered Remicade and Arava.
Well after 5 ivs of rem. the insurance
company decided they weren't going to pay
for them because I had primary SS. The rem
ivs were $20,000 give or take $. The
Insurance even demanded the clinic send
back $ they had been paid. Sooo we are
fighting tooth and nail to get a real
diagnosis. I haven't been on Rem since
12/07 and am starting to have joint
erosion (yeah) and my RF is going up... so
my rheumy finally decided I have SS/RA
overlap disease. Hopefully the insurance
company will accept that . It's a BBBB to
have a chronic illness. And on top of that
I have a complex cyst on my ovary and a
rapidly rising CA=125. Scheled for surgery
with a gyn/oncologist on 4/30. (and I'm
not even 60 yet, poop)

inflammatory arthritis are autoimmune disorders Posted: 05-13-08 04:01am
Did you know that many forms of
inflammatory arthritis are autoimmune
disorders, in which the body views its own
tissues as foreign and reacts with
inflammation.
