I Am Confused...
Posted: 10-24-07 21:05pm

Okay.. My husband and I are trying to conceive our second child... My last normal period was September 3, making me 25 days late.. Now all tests come back negative.. haven't done a blood test.. but by this time if I was pregnant it would show on an ultrasound right?? I was in the ER last night because of abdominal pain and they did an utrasound to see if I had any dermiods or cysts, since I have a history with dermoids, cysts and endometriosis.. They said that they didn't see anything and no one knows what is wrong with me.. They say it may be my endometriosis, but I do not want another laparoscopy if it isn't necessary due to the fact that I already had 2 previous ones and I want to try and limit the scar tissue for future pregnancies... So I guess my question is.. If my last period was September 3 would a pregnancy show on an ultrasound at this time period?? I have no clue why af hasn't come and why I am in so much pain and the doctors don't know either...

I completely understand what you are going through. My last 'period' (two days) was on Aug 28. I'm on cd 58 or something equally as crazy.

I have a history of cysts as well. I'm not poly-cystic. I will just get a very large, painful cyst occasionally. I have (as well as my doctors), in the past, blamed my late periods on the cysts. It wasn't until we were ttc that they were investigated any further than 'here, take birth control and you'll be fine'. It turns out that I have a hormonal embalance. So, I'm not 'late', I just haven't ovulated yet.

Do, you chart your temps at all? If not, you may need to go to the doctor and get a prescription for the 'progesterone challenge'.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I think that they would have seen something. i had an ultrasound done at 6.5 weeks and they seen a nice strong heartbeat. Did they do a vaginal ultrasound......because sometimes they can't see anything when they put it on the abdomen especially when you aren't too far along.

they did they abdomen ultrasound not the transvaginal one.. the technician did play a sound and I heard a heart beat.. but I think it was just mine that I heard.. it was weird though, because they never did that before when checking for cysts.. My doc wants me to see him in Nov. if I still don't get af and I am still getting BFN..

I dont chart my temps and all that stuff.. I dunno, it just seems all too confusing to me.... I am only 23 so I am still young and have already had two laparoscopies.. I had the first one when I was 18 and the second one when I was 20..

I had my first lap when I was 14. I had to have a cyst removed and the excess fluid drained. I'm actually scared to death that I have adhesions from the proceedure.

Honestly, the temping is really easy once you get in the habit of it. And it is the only way to really know if you have/are ovulating. If I wasn't temping and *know* that I haven't ovulated, I would have already been to the doctor. But, now I can wait it out some because technically I'm not 'late'.

But, if you are normally pretty regular, it might be time for you to head to the doctor. There is a couple different things they can do.

okay.. so I got a copy of my ultrasound report.. it says that there is a questionable cyst versus follicle in the left ovary....... so since I havent gotten my period yet I'm guessing that it is a follicle and so it would explain why af hasn't visited.. because if it is a follicle that means I didn't ovulate yet...

Another Update

okay.. so yesterday I started spotting.. it is basically just in the morning and it is so minimal that I don't need a liner or anything.. last night I started to not feel good.. I was having a major headache and cramping.. the cramping was so bad that it hurt to walk.. then this morning I woke up and my whole body was aching.. I feel nauseated and I keep getting dizzy spells.. could this possibly mean I am going to be getting af?

I dont know you could be getting the FLU but if the cramping is so bad it hurts to walk you may need to go to the ER.
