I'm Done :( Posted: 10-25-07 12:16pm
As of today I am letting my milk supply
dry up. It seems like ever since I started
birth control I haven't been able to make
enough milk. Also, I keep finding more
foods that Luke has bad reactions too.
Milk is the hardest on him and he gets so
cranky whenever I eat bread, sweets, and
allot of vegetables. I feel like a
horrible mommy because I couldn't even
breastfeed my child.
He is doing so much better on formula
though. He is finally gaining weight and
he hasn't projectile vomited since I put
him on formula. I really didn't want him
on formula because we have to pay for it
but I know it's better for him. I can only
buy him the soy stuff and that is even
more than the dairy based formula.
Anyways, I am depressed today and feel
like crying. I guess I just had to whine
to someone.
Here's a picture 'cause it makes me feel
better to post a picture of my peanut.
Okay, maybe 2

He is soo precious! You did what you had
to do and what's best for him. You
shouldn't feel bad about it. Sometimes
those things can't be helped.

So sorry. But, just keep in
mind, that this is what is best for your
son. What brand of formula do you have
him on? The Parent's Choice at Wal-Mart
is exactly the same as Enfamil Lipil and
very, very close to Similac; and they have
a soy based formula. It's about half the
price of the name brands. Just a little
money saving suggestion!

I just discovered Parents Choice. I
couldn't believe the price difference and
then when I compared the ingredients they
were exactly the same.
I know that I shouldn't be beating myself
up over this. I am glad we found out about
Luke's allergies early because my sisters
son has the same allergies and he was
hospitalized for almost a month. His were
a little worse though and they couldn't
figure out his problem because he was his
birth weight whenever he was 4 months old.
I am so glad that I figured out the dairy
thing early.

He's so precious! Such a good looking
boy!
I had to stop breastfeeding after a
month... after I had Bella I had no
appetite and threw up almost everytime I
ate... It got to the point where nothing
good was going into me except for
multivitamins and when she would eat she
would take everything I had and I would
literally just faint on the spot. She
wasn't gaining much weight and seemed
agitated a lot ... So I finally opted to
give her formula... since then she has
ballooned in weight and is so happy and
content, and I'm strong enough and able to
care for her the best that I can.
It's a very difficult thing, giving up
breastfeeding, but in some cases it's not
whats best for the child and in the end
doing whats best for him is all that
matters.
I still have a lot of guilt over it, but I
know I'm doing what I have to do... He'll
be fine, and you will to... just try not
to beat yourself up too much hun. you're
doing what you have to do!

I love the second picture! Don't feel bad
about not breastfeeding anymore! At least
you did it as long as you did!

You tried it and for that you should be
patting yourself on the back. You're
giving it up because the little man didn't
tolerate it well, not because you want to.
The first couple of months are the most
important.
I know how you feel! It's so unfair how
it comes natural for some people, or they
struggle for a while and then get the hang
of it, and yet for others it's months and
months of struggling. I felt so horrible
when I had to stop, but after 2 months it
felt like we had made no progress, and new
problems just kept coming up.
You did really good and stuck to it a lot
longer than lots of mothers! You really
tried and gave it your best, don't get
down on yourself. He'll be healthy and
happy no matter what.
He's really really cute by the way!

I only did it for two weeks but the doctor
said breastfeeding for any amount of time
makes a huge difference.. so be proud of
yourself!!
There are billions of happy, healthy,
formula fed babies.

Thanks guys! You all made me feel better.
My mom just put allot of pressure on me to
bf Luke. She was able to bf all her kids
for a full year before she stopped. I want
another baby so that I can try again. I
really hope that all my kids don't have
the same allergies as Luke. That would
suck.
