Does the suspected lesion started as minor changes in the size, shape or color of an existing mole or it has begun as a dark area that looks like a new mole?
Is the lesion hard and lumpy?
Does it ooze or crust up?
Does it feel like tingling or itching?

I was trying to find some program that offers free of cost diagnosis for suspected melanoma in Scotland, but I didn't find anything.
I can suggest you to visit the web site of National Health Service in Scotland.
You may find something.
You can, also, check Macmillan Cancer Support. It offers financial support for people that already have been diagnosed with cancer, but you can contact them and ask if they give financial help with cancer diagnosis exams, too.

Best wishes!

Its very important to check your moles regularly. I had a mole that was on my neck that went from light brown to a very dark brown to an almost black in color. When I had it removed and a biopsy was done I had emergency surgery the following day. I was then admitted to the University Melanoma Clinic for ten years. I don't know when the change occurred but from what I recall the change was very quick. And from what I was told if I delayed checking it out for another two to three months I would not be typing this reply. So when in doubt get the moles checked out. Good Luck!

Flattening Mole

Hi m&ms!

I'd like to ask you about my mole on my wrist which at first grew a lil bigger & then it stopped and even shrinked. It's still quite elevated but it's color changed becoming fair with my skin. It (mole) used to be dark brown. Now, when u look at it, you wouldn't even think that I had a mole on it, unless you look at it really close and feel it.

I have no family history of having Cancer, but still, I worry so much.

as for the size, it's when u make 3 dots out of a pen. Unlike others it's way smaller than that of an eraser head..

any reply from you would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Hi again M&Ms!!

Sorry if I have lots of msgs lining-up for you.
I'm really a worrier by nature. and I really hope that what I have is not Cancer.

I found this on the net:

"Many moles begin as a small, flat spot and slowly become larger in diameter and raised. Over many years, they may flatten again, become flesh-colored, and go away."

Though the process of becoming large, raised, flattening and becoming flesh-colored occured for a very short span of time and not for years, this somehow gave me peace of mind.

I'm really sorry I wasn't here to write back to your post when you needed some calming words.
I guess you found the answer to your question.
I'm interested if there was a white halo or white ring area around the mole before disappearing.
Have you felt some new sensations in the mole, like itching or pain?

Waiting for your post!
