Moving Out!

so me and travis want to move out of here
hopefully in december but that might not
happen with everything going on its going
to be really hectic. im thinking more in
march which is when im going to be working
again and he will have his car fixed by
then and everything. things would have
slowed down a bit and so we definately
want to move and get our own place.
heres the problems: dogs,space,cost of
rent
theres no way in heck we could live in an
apartment. because of our now 4 dogs it
would be impossible. we could ent a duplex
or a house but rent is OUTRAGOUS in
austin. weve thought about moving to maybe
pflugerville or cedar creek but its all
still up in the air. so right now our best
bet would be.....
http://www.dreamloghome.com/floorplans_de
tail_results2.php?ID=25
http://www.dreamloghome.com/floorplans_d
etail_results2.php?ID=104
which one do you guys like best? number 1
or 2?
this would be ideal for us because we
could make payments which would be WAY
less than what rent alone would cost us to
get a house or duplex. p
this is just an idea we had been thinking
about. nothing is set in stone yet and we
really dont know when it will all happen
or anything. im still looking around at
the different floorplan options and
everything but i just wanted to see what
everyone thought!!!!!!
thanks!

we have land thats the best part! its out
in cedar creek( about an hour away from
austin) but theres 12 acres so its enough
space
theres a few horses on it but we could
fence off and divide the land into space
for the horses and space for the yard.

Honestly, you two haven't been together
for all that long, and you haven't lived
alone together yet -
especially with a young baby. Babies are
amazing at multiplying the stress levels.
I think a better idea for you guys would
be to leave the dogs with his parents or
find new homes for them, and find yourself
an apartment with a 1 year lease. If
things work out, then consider getting
your own home. I'm not trying to be mean
or anything, but I don't think you two are
ready to buy a home together yet.

also count in building expenses..
it really, really gets up there. Trust
me. Plus the building permits and codes
you have to follow. Not to mention the
foundation, wiring, transporting the house
to the location. My parents just added
property to their land and it put them
back 50 grand just to have it put on the
land (not including the price of the home)
Youll just really have to look into it.

yeah thats another big concern
but we couldnt give the dogs away
no way
they are like kids to us
maybe we can leave them with his parents
for a while. thats still alls omething we
have to figure out
rent alone for an apartment here thats not
in a bad area is about $800-900 for a 2
bedroom
so thats another thing
this way it would be cheaper than renting
an apartment
but youre right we do need to be ready
before we decide what to do
its all still up in the air though
thats why im glad my parents own land so
we would have that set up already. but we
still have thio think about bills, water
and electricity and all that good stuff

You two can't own property or get a
mortgage because of your age. So unless
some family member is able to get a second
mortgage themselves... you won't be able
to do this.
But it looks good! Additionally, for a
mortgage, you'll need far more of a down
payment than you have saved up.
I know, I'm being realistic. If you want
me to stop, just say so.
You and Travis should focus on getting
done with school first, THEN worry about
moving out.

no way jose
if it comes down to it we will just rent a
house and pay the extra every month
i just figured a log cabin would be
cheaper lol but maybe not?
likle vanessa said all the building and
all that
didnt even think about that stuff!

Is there water and sewer already on the
land? Is it cleared? Has the electric been
installed (on the property)? These things
can be a huge expense! If it is well
water, you'd have to get a well dug. If it
isn't hooked up to the town sewer system,
you've got that to contend with. There are
a lot of expenses in buying a house -
which is why so many people rent.

girl, a lot of us are right there with
you.
Trust me, I cannot wait to own my own home
but even at my age (which I have a few
years on you) and my husband is almost 27
we still can't afford it!

I think you guys should try out getting an
apartment like someone else said..Don't
they have some sort of low income housing
options or something there? I know here in
KS if you make under like $30,000 you
qualify for low income housing and can get
a three bedroom, very nice apartment for
like $500 a month!!!
I can't believe $800-900 a month thats
insane!!

yeah either my mom or his parents would
for sure sign on everything
yeah the downpayments part is also true
wed have to put 6,000 down
the good thing is im pretty sure my
parents would do that too. weve got alot
of help from everyone but i really want to
do it myself
since my mom was going to buy me my first
car (i was supposed to get a jeep when i
turned 16) but after all the court stuff
with my fines from school they suspended
me from getting a licence til im 21
my mom laready said shed pay for the
deposit for a house if we decided to rent
and help to get us moved in
i dont know though
this is alot of money
maybe we will just stay here until we get
some more saved up

I understand you love your animals, but
having them is going to limit your options
a lot. You should at least
consider finding new homes for them. At
least keep the option open in your mind,
you know?

well theres one of the dogs that may have
to go
kasie
shes very jelous and spoiled and she
jumps
shes not trained at all and weve tried
everything
when the baby comes if she does ONE WORNG
thing shes outta here
the rest of them theres no way id give
them up. plus thats what i do. thats how i
work,in rescue. i have to have room for
dogs period. because to be able to stay
home and finish homeschooling and be with
kristen i need to be able to work from
home.
im going to do rescue my whole life and id
really like to stick with that.
but i dunno
it might be easiest to stay here for a
while longer atleast til then end of next
summer

the problem with owning is also the
upkeep. If something breaks, you have to
pay for it to be fixed, when you rent it
is the landlord responsibility.
Not to mention property taxes and
insurance.
And with certain types of dogs (i.e
pittbulls) a lot of companies will not
insure you.

Hrm, actually, you'd be paying more than
8500 for 10% down and then you'd have to
carry mortgage insurance because you
wouldn't be coming in with the full 20%
down. At least on the second home in the
two you have listed there.
Your monthly payments would be over $600 a
month. Plus whatever water, sewer and
garbage cost in that area. Those are basic
housing expenses you usually don't pay
when you rent.
