Dear Doctor...
I have a question about Mental
Conditions.
Im a 14 year old girl and I hear voices in
my head, I hear them at random times of
the day. At first it was a women calling
my name, then I heard my family whispering
my name in my ears.
and sometimes I hear people whispering
things but cant understand what they are
saying.
Im concerned about why I hear voices, I
understand they are not real and that My
subconcious is creating the voices.
but I have read about people who have a
similar situation and they later find out
they have schizophrenia.
Why do I hear voices, thats the question i
want to ask you.
Have I got some kind of mental condition
or is it my mental state that i am in.
As long as you are aware that the voices
are not "real", you aren't experiencing
schizophrenia. Not-existing perceptions
(tactile, olfactory, visual or audio) are
called hallucinations. False perceptions
are called illusions. Both hallucinations
and illusions are present schizophrenia.
But during schizophrenia, the person
believes that the not-existing and false
perceptions are real. Nonetheless, you can
consult an expert psychiatrist about your
condition and request help.
