If a teenager(15) gets pregnant, can the parents of that teen say that the father of the child can NOT see the child or the mother?? Question

The parents of that teen can press charges against the father for statutory rape, but I'm not sure if they can override his parental rights to visitation.

A 15 year old is not an adult, and legally can NOT consent to having sex. It is considered statutory rape in the eyes of the law.

I understand what she could charge him for but could she procrastinate the visitation rights?

I really don't know. Somehow I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

Are you pregnant?

No. The parents of the teenager cannot stop the other parent from LEGALLY seeing the CHILD. The 15 year old can legally emancipate herself and move from her parents home with her child. This is not a good situation though. Teenage mothers need a support system.

i know it sounds dirty, but if the teen doesnt want the father to see the baby she could state that the father is unknown on the birth certificate and lie stating that she had sexual relations with other men.
as for statutory rape, i think there are age requirements such as the girl has to be 16 or under with an age difference of 2 years + or something like that. anyhow, it was when i was 16 anyhow. also i think it depends on where you live.
there are so many factors. how does the teen feel? does she want the father to be there or not? she may only be 15 but unless the father has done something terrible chances are the parents cant do much, if he has they may be able to get a restraining order.

Not true. It depends on the state, and even then the boy has to be over the age of consent, and even THEN someone has to physically see the sex in order to press charges if the girl doesn't want charges to be pressed.

Anywhoo.

No, your parents do not have the right to forbid the father from seeing his baby, only YOU do. If they try to bar him from access to the child, you can get a lawyer and take them to court.

The fact that when I became pregnant my fiances father tried to get him arrested on statutory rape charges. When the police informed him that only the suspected victim or victims parents can press charges, he tried to get me to. When I wouldn't, he tried to get my parents to. When they tried, I denied ever having sex with him. Since there was no physical evidence to support it, they said they wouldn't arrest him until either I admitted we'd slept together, or someone witnessed the act.

I think, don't quote me on this though, that if the girl is deemed mature and of a stable mind then if the parents press charges she will be asked if she consented and if she says she did then charges will be dropped, atleast i think thats what happens here

Seems kind of crazy to even have a law like that, then.

Which they can't get without a court order or my permission. No judge would sign from them to do a paternity test when the case was as ridiculous as the one they were trying for with us, and I sure as hell wasn't going to give it to them.
