Are you planning to breast feed or use formula......even then that is hard to predict because sometimes the whole breastfeeding thing doesn't work out.

I would say roughly $60 for diapers, $125 for formula (depending on which brand you use) and say about $150 for miscellaneous items. (like baby wipes, shampoo, clothes, baby food) Keep in mind that these are just estimates, some months it may be less and some months it could be little more. Also are you going to still have to work because then you have to look at the cost of daycare.

Hopefully your friends and family will have a baby shower for you and you will get a lot of your stuff then. Many people like to give diapers, wipes and shampoo ect....

Completly depends on if you r planning on buying brand names for everything, re-usable nappies or disposables, bottle or breast. Some people spend so much more then they need to on clothes for newborns when in reality you can just get them cheap because they'll only be in them for a matter of weeks

That is so true. I myself find great deals on clothes in consignment stores. Also do some research on brand name vs. generic brand formulas because you will see that they are very similar and they still have to pass all government standards. The real only difference is price!

yes! we used the generic enfamil lipil and only spent $20-30 a month on formula (with no wic or other assistance).

personally i don't think babies are that expensive. i think the older they get, the more expensive they get.

Tottally agree with you bridget!

When they're small yes they are expensive little things but you can make it cheaper. For instance from about 16 weeks onwards whenever i saw an offer on nappies, wet wipes etc i bought them and stocked up. And i only had one reasniably expensive outfit for Mika, everything else was either my neices old clothes or something that cost a few pounds. Just be strict with yourself and stick to a budget
