I knew there was a reason why I shouldn't
dye my own hair
I decided after 10 months of being a
red-head, I wanted to go back to blonde..
& I can't afford to get it done
professionally, so I thought I'd give it a
go myself.....
Well, first of all I used a pre-lightener,
which was supposed to remove all the red
dye. It removed some of it. Soooo I bought
another one, which removed quite a bit
more of it. So then I was ginger. Then I
tried dying it blonde from there, thinking
my hair would be light enough to do it. It
didn't do anything, & I was still
ginger. So THEN I bought a bleaching kit
which guaranteed to lighten my hair by up
to 6 tones & remove all previous
colour. It did not.
Now I'm left with bleach blonde roots
(brighter than the sun )
& ORANGE hair. I feel like crying. My
poor, poor beautiful hair

I've been through it. It sucks. The only
way you can get it fixed without
completely frying your hair is to go to a
salon.
When I had blonde hair, there was a yellow
tint to it, so I bought color correcting
shampoo which was amazing. It takes the
yellow and orange tint right out of it.
But if you hair is really orange, you
really do need to go to a salon, or if you
give up on the blonde, you can always dye
it a darker color.
I'm sure whatever you do will look
beautiful :]

Kaiteo......what kind of color correcting
shampoo did you use...was it purple. I use
the purple stuff and I find that it hasn't
worked that much for me.

Yeah it was purple. It was called So

white hair. Haha.

Last year at this time I accidentally dyed
my hair blue so I know how you feel. It's
not fun.
I hope that you can get it fixed.

This makes me nervous since I'm about to
dye my hair.
I don't trust myself with blonde though, I
would never do that again. I did it to my
hair and it turned out this funky yellow
color, for some reason I kept it. I think
I'm fine with going darker though, I'll
just have to listen to my mom saying how
gothic I look for about a week until it
fades a bit lol

It's funny how parents think "gothic" is
determined by how dark your hair is.
I had black hair for a couple years. I
liked it.

Oh geez, I've made some huge hair coloring
boo boo's! If you look at a color wheel
and use the color opposite of the color
you don't like you can cover up your
mistakes. If your hair is green or is
pulling an ashy color you would use
something red to kind of off set it. If
your hair is orangy than you would use
something dark purple and so on. That's
why when someone is using hair bleach it's
usually a blue or purple color so your
hair doesn't look yellow (brassy)
Good luck! I'm sure you'll look beautiful
regardless of what you do

I have tried doing my hair on several
occasions "to save money!" Each time I
ended up spending more money because I had
to go to a salon to get it fixed. My hair
is definitely over processed, which is
probably a reason why it turns out so
horrible. Some people do really good with
their own hair. I am not one of them.
Good luck. Zany! I feel for you. I have
been there oh so many times.

For some reason, no matter how many times
I've dyed my hair, it has never looked or
felt dead. I don't understand it.
