Cholesterol at Age of 20 - cutting out or cutting down? Posted: 10-27-07 07:59am
Hi, I've got 6.6 level cholesterol, its
not that high I know...compared to others
that I've heard...but I'm 20 years old, I
recently started to exercise, and I have
lost alot of weight over the past 3
years.... 2 years ago it was 5.5 and after
I started working in the food industry It
rose to 6.6 I kinda liked alot of cream!
But I really don't know what I should do
now, Should I be cutting out or cutting
down?, How many weeks does it take for a
cholestrol level to go down alot. Should I
not eat Dairy at all?
Should Saturated fats be Out of my diet?
Completely?... So I shouldn't even be
having like 2grams of saturted fats in a
serve of food?
Paul.

Are you overweighted?
Do you eat plenty of fruit and
vegetables?
Are you consuming products with
non-saturated fats (omega 3 and omega 6
fat acids)?
Have you checked HDL and LDL levels, too (
these are important values for a better
analysis)?

Paul,
All animal products are saturated fat
which raises your cholesterol higher. If
you find you cannot live without your
dairy, try the low-fat or no fat versions
of it. Even though you will still get
cholesterol from eating them, at least it
won't be as bad as the fully saturated
ones.
