Amniocentisis? Posted: 10-27-07 19:00pm
I just had my amnio done this past Wed.
and they told me that my results will be
in in 10-14 days. Has anyone else here had
this test done? If so did any of you get
your results sooner and when did you get
them? I'm anxious about knowing for sure
what's going on and I'm looking for maybe
some hope of getting my results back even
a day sooner. Thanks!

I had my results within a week. It's hard
not to be anxious when you are waiting for
them to come back.

I had one done because I was 35 when I was
pregnant with Jaylon. That is on the low
end of "advanced maternal age", so the
chances were higher that there may be
problems.
When I went in for the ultrasound prior to
the test they do all kinds of measurments
and he had no signs of downs or other
birth defects so technically I didn't have
to have it but chose to just to ease my
own mind.
Why did you have to have it done?

I'm 25, 26 in a month.So maternal age
isn't the issue. I've had 2 detailed
scans. The 2nd one was a follow up.I've
had severel signs of chromosomal
abnormalities. Th babys growth has went
from 2 weeks behind to 6 weeks behind. The
head is also growng 3 weeks ahead of the
bdy. So they are unsure if it's
cromosomal, genetics, my placenta not
supporting the baby enough, or if I have
an infection in my uterus. The test will
tell them for sure if it's chromosomal,
genetic, or infection. They need to know
for sure in order to know how to safely
finish treating the pregnancy.

Well good luck! Pregnancy is so stressful
from beginning to end, but then once the
baby is here you have even more to stress
about.
