Strange Pulsing In Abdomen? Posted: 04-03-04 14:50pm
For some background info, i'm 19 years
old, but my family has a history of heart
murmurs.
Over the past few weeks, i've noticed a
very quick violent pulsing below my heart.
When this is happening, my heart is
pulsing at a regular pace. However
because of its proximity to my heart, I
want to make sure its not my aortic
artery. If you were to draw a line down
the middle of my abdomen, this would be to
the left slightly. Between the bottom of
my left lung and the center-region.
When it first occured two weeks ago, I
felt the pulsing going off and on. Every
10-30 minutes it would pulse volently then
stop. This continued for about an hour,
before it stopped. I didn't have the
pulsing again for weeks.
Recently it occured again. Today and
yesterday its been pulsing again, except
this time it hasn't stopped. I'll go
10-45 minutes without feeling anything,
then suddenly i'll feel violent pulsing
for about 10-60 seconds.
I went to the doctors office, and
explained what I felt. The doctor there
felt around my abdomen, and listened with
a stephoscope. He concluded it was
probably muscle spasms, but it doesn't
feel like any muscle spasms i've ever got
before. When the violent pulsing occurs
I can see it on my chest.
Should I get another opinion? Or is a
stephoscope more than enough to detect any
sort of aortic aneurysms?
Auscultation is not enough to diagnose
aortic aneurysm. X-ray image of the chest
will provide us with more valuable
informations. But aortic aneurysm is very
rare condition and is not manifested with
such pulsations you've mentioned.
Can you perform ECG and X-ray image of the
chest?
