Does Microgynon Affect the Pregnancy Test
Posted: 10-28-07 04:56am

Hi I have been on microgynon for a while now and i have never missed my pill. but the last three packs of microgynon i have been taking wihtout the seven day break, ie taking the pills continuously wiht out giving myself my seven pill free days. I have just started on my fourth pack ( due to a very hectic new life- just moved to a new country new job etc-travelling all the time) and i have taken the pregnancy test twice. Both the times its shown up as negative.Does that mean im not pregnant or is it the microgynon affecting the result.Pls help.Where in london can I go to be 100 percent sure. Would i have to take a blood test at an NHS?

Birth control pills do not affect the accuracy of pregnancy tests. If you've been taking the pills continuously without the break, you won't get a period. I would trust the pregnancy test. I don't think a blood test is necessary. Try taking your 7 day break on this pack and seeing if you get your period.

You're not pregnant, as said above birth control pills do not effect pregnancy tests.

I'm on microgynon too, & I really think you should give yourself a 7 day break at the end of this pack.. you're not doing yourself any favours. Oh & no, you're not pregnant.. don't waste the doctor's time by asking for a blood test.
