Honest Opinions Needed!

Ok I am having alot of thought about what
is best. We REALLY want a baby the sooner
the better but I'm thinking whether we
should get married first. It's not because
I don't want a baby out of wedlock- that
doesn't bother me.
If we have a baby first the kids would not
have a big age gap but if we get married
before baby we can go on honeymoon (neil
would have the kids) this wouldn't be able
to happen if we had another baby- no one
to look after it. Also, the parents would
be registered as married on the birth
certificate.
But I think if we have a wedding we will
not be able to afford a baby for a long
while. Weddings are really expensive here
and if you include the honey moon your
looking at least 20 grand.
What do you think? I really don't want to
wait to have a baby but at the same time i
would like to get married....

We had this same issue. We decided to get
married first (as opposed to a buying a
house) we decided that if we didn't get
married first, that we wouldn't get
married. There will always be 'something'
that needs the money more.
But it is really a personal decision. You
don't have to have a large wedding, just a
small in home with close family.

Would you consider skipping the honeymoon?
Or maybe just going to hotel for a couple
of nights? That could save you quite a
bit of money.

The only reason I would get married before
baby is so that we have the freedom of a
week away by ourselves

You can sign papers in court. That costs
hardly anything at all. Then get to
baby-making. You'd already be legally
married. You could honeymoon later on when
the baby is old enough to have someone
watch it for that long of a time....

Weddings don't have to be expensive - ours
cost £1000 including reception and
honeymoon in Guernsey.
It's the marriage that's important, not
the wedding.

I personally had a baby then I got married
3.5 yrs later. You could start planning a
small, inexpensive wedding while you are
ttc, and make it so it's before the baby
is due so then you could still go on a
honeymoon because you would still be
pregnant.
I hope that I got that out right...lol

That's about what mine was. Honeymoon
included. We just went a few hours away
from home, for a few nights. We are planning a
nice vacation once the baby is old enough
to enjoy it. I think it'd be more fun to
watch the baby have a good time.

I think we are going to go for a low key
wedding whilst TTC. The local town hall
does weddings for 30 guests for £103 on a
Saturday. Then I would just have a sit
down meal after
We're going to do both I think

Weddings don't have to cost so much. My
brother's wedding (including dress and
everything) cost about $500 (Cdn). It was
buffet style, in a hall that was free (but
people had to buy their drinks...that's
where they made the money) and my now
sister-in-law got her dress from a place
that was going out of business for $50. I
can't remember what they did for a
honeymoon, but it doesn't have to be
exotic. It can easily be to a city nearby
for some sightseeing. A lot of people
take advantage as to what is close to
them. I live 45 minutes from Niagara
Falls and can't believe how many people
have never been there. It's nuts.

We live in London so we're pretty much in
the best city in England lol.
We may just go away for a few days to
Scotland or something or maybe a family
holiday away would be nice. Bring my mum
and sister so we can sneak of for alone
time still
