No it is a non profit agency and is not owned or operated by the government. It is a center that you can go to to have a free pregnancy test if you are pregnant and they counsel women about pregnancy when the do find out they are pregnant. The people that run it are volunteers. When I first found out I was expecting, I went there for a free pregnancy test and from then on they have different things that they offer for pregnant women young and old. Like parenting classes, child birth classes, etc. They also show you videos and just are there to talk to you about what to expect becoming a parent.. They dont publically advertise so you wouldnt know about it unless someone told you about it. It is not in a big old public building its actually really private in its own location that looks like a doctors office. They have nurses and doctors that rotate and volunteer there when needed.. They dont give you medical care because they ask you to go to an OBGYN for that they are just there for you if you need them to talk with or need advice or want to attend any of their free classes. They do regular ultrasounds on Wednesdays but I guess they pick a time out of the year to do free ultrasounds for any one withing the 7-20 wk period because they know that some doctor office only allow you 1 or 2 or whatever. The people there were really nice. I went this past saturday and had an ultrasound and it lasted about 20 min because they did alot of measurements and took lots of pics. I hope this answers your question.

This is a crisis pregnancy center. It can be found online.

You can look up what a crisis pregnancy center is on Wikipedia and make your decision whether that is something you want to be involved with. Not everyone will.

well I didnt know it was a crisis center because it didnt seem like it when I went there. I saw the flyers for free ultrasound and I just thought I would pass the info on for people in the area..Smile Also the women and husbands/boyfriends that were there sure didnt look like they were in crisis situations to me lol! But I guess people were taking advantage of the free ultrasounds.

When I said they didnt advertise I meant like in commercials or in the paper or whatever. And I guess that was because they would really get swamped with tons of people... Since I had already went there back in August when I had my pregnancy test, they had my name and number on file so they called me to see if I would like to have one done for free..I said sure.. I actually didnt know that they were offering the u/s to other people until I got there. I saw the flyer posted within the place while there and just thought I would let other people know about it because there were no type of restrictions or anything. I am assuming that some of the people/couples that were there probably heard about it through word of mouth as well because I heard different conversations while I was there waiting and people were like "WOW I never knew this place was here and getting a free ultra sound is awesome" etc etc. While waiting in the waiting room they also had all this literature in there telling about the place and what services to offer. I was just trying to share a little info.

I think it is great you can get some medical attention when you need it. I just know that a CPC is not going to be for everyone because of their views about religion, etc - I wanted to make sure it was known that this is a CPC and not a family planning clinic. Smile
