I am having a partial hysterectomy
(??-where they leave the cervix and
ovaries) done soon because of
endometriosis. I am 26 and have 2 sets of
twins (all under 26 months) so there is no
more kiddos in our future. Because I
developed a DVT after my first pregnancy
and was told I had factor 5 and protein S
def.; they are trying to leave my ovaries.
I wont be a good candidate for HRT. He
did tell me that if my endo has grown on
the ovaries (or if they look really bad-I
also have PCOS) he would have to take them
also.
My question is how long is recovery? I am
having the abdominal procedure done.
Because of having small kids, I need to
find help. I am just trying to find how
long I need to arrange for someone to stay
with me. Also how bad is the pain-I have
had 2 c-sections?

Hysterectomy Recovery Time Posted: 12-14-07 15:08pm
I am 42 and just had my hyserectomy 2 mo.
ago. I also had three c sections. I am
sure everyone is different but it took me
about six weeks before i really was back
to my normal routine. The pain for me was
about the same as a c section. I had
terrible bruising all the way across my
stomach that was pitch black that made the
pain a little worse and it took about 7
weeks for it to go away. Good luck!

Hi,
I am 26 and have just had a hysterectomy
straight after a vbac delivery. I had a
previous section with my 1st son.
For me, i think the vaginal delivery hurt
far more than the hysterectomy, in terms
of recover i think i recovered quicker
than my c section (but think this is due
to all the help i have received and the
fact that i have a toddler to care for).
Its now been 6wks and i would say i now
back to normal (although i still can not
pick up my 3yr old) oh and im driving
again too.
In terms of pain i think it is pretty much
the same as a c section but just a bit
weaker on the tummy, but i have found that
having a hot bath everyday has helped.
I wish you well for your operation and if
you ever need to talk im a good listener!!
