If You Had Back Pain W/ Gallbladder Probs, ? Please Posted: 10-31-07 10:30am
I think I'm having gallbladder problems. I
had the stomach pain symptoms and then the
shooting pain that went around from my
front to back on the right side.
I woke up last week with an aching back.
It's not a shooting pain, it's constant in
my lower right side. It feels like a
muscular type pain. I've had back aches
before but they always have gone away in a
few days. This one is lasting 10 days and
not improving at all. I've tried a mild
non-narcotic muscle relaxer and it hasn't
helped at all.
My question is, if you had gallbladder
problems with back pain, does this sound
similar?? I've read it's usually an
'attack' kind of back pain that lasts from
15 min to a couple of hours, but mine
never gets better.
Could this be caused from my
gallbladder??
I have an appt. with a surgeon next week,
btw.
thanks so much!

Hi Susan, my symptoms started several
months ago with sever bloating after
eating and minor cramps. In late August I
started having abdominal soreness like a
golf ball under my right ribcage with
minor aches in my mid / upper back
accompanied with an on and off low grade
temp. About 3 weeks ago I started to get
moderate back aches that also felt like
muscle tension radiating around from my
gallbladder area. I had one bad attack 2
years ago and was never able to follow up
with the doctor thanks to Hurricane
Katrina and now I think it's biting me in
the butt. However, the wierd thing is
that over the last month i've had chest
tightness, congestion and headaches as
well but my doctor said it was Generalized
anxiety Disorder mixed with whatever is
going on. I've had an abdominal pelvic
and chest ct scan done, multiple xrays of
my chest and ab area, upper gi, upper gi
series, tb test, blood work with the most
recent showed my liver enzymes slightly
elevated and urin test which showed very
small traces of blood and a gallbladder
ultrasound which showed no gallstones
detectable. I've felt pretty bad almost
everyday for 2 months straight and now
it's getting to the point I am missing
work so they are admitting me to the
hospital on Monday so I can have more test
done instead of waiting 2 weeks for this
one and a week for that one i'll have
everything done at once so hopefully if
it's my gallbladder which my doctor thinks
it is and i'm almost positive it is they
can remove it asap. Hope this helps and
good luck with everything.
