I did half formula half milk for a few
weeks with Kaylee & just kept slowly
adding more milk & less formula. Now
she's completely on whole milk. I have to
heat hers up for her or she won't touch
it, that or she'll spit it right back out
at me. I put it in the microwave for 25-30
seconds. Like B said just shake it real
good to make sure there are no hot spots.
I'm weird about leaving milk out in her
sippy or bottle for a while though, just
because I like my milk ice cold &
can't imagine it sitting out & then
drinking it.. Bleh. If she doesn't want
anything to do with it for 20 minutes or
so I put it back in the fridge & just
keep offering it to her every half hour -
45 minutes or so. Lately though all she's
been wanting to drink is diluted juicey
juice though

as a matter of fact, when we're out at
restaurants my son always has ice in his
water and he *loves* it. why would anyone
take their child out half naked in the
cold?
that's why they get sick a lot? my son is
1 and he's never been sick a day in his
life.
i don't not give him cold milk before bed
because i think it'll make him sick, i
don't give it to him cold because he sucks
it down so fast i think it might upset his
stomach or just feel like a lump in there.
he's had it cold before bed and it didn't
seem to bother him, i just think the warm
is more soothing.
for breakfast and lunch he gets his milk
straight from the fridge, nice and cold.
also, laura, i was thinking about it and i
don't think heating milk makes it go bad.
i think people heat milk when cooking and
baking, or when making hot chocolate. did
you try it last night?

Kaylee loves her ice water too, I always
put some ice in it for her & I think
she's only been sick *maybe* 3-4 times
since she was born & it's never been a
serious sickness.
Do you have any kids blondie_e??

BWAHAHAHHAA....Oni gets ice in EVERYTHING.
If I'd let her, she'd eat it alll day. But
it's not good for their teefuses!!
I've NEVER warmed Oni's milk. Ever. I
wouldn't do it unless I had a problem with
her transitioning from warm to cold.
WHen it got cold outside for a couple of
days, I DID give her hot chocolate milk.
It was DEE-LISH!! LOL!
But as for babies not being able to drink
cold beverages because it'll make them
sick. Nonsense. Ridicilious. Unheard of.
Even if you WERE to being your baby out
half naked in the freezing weather, it's
not the COLD that gets them sick. It's any
germ that they have been exposed to.

um i dont have children but i have a 3
year old sister that i basically raised.
And cold water does makes kids sick makes
their throat hurt. Ask a doctor. okay? and
cold does makes the sick. If the wind
blows on their head they lose like 90% of
their body heat and get sick. This is a
weird thing to argue about? If cold didnt
make people sick why wudnt people like not
wear hats and liek gloves and warm clothes
in the winter? I thought this was common
sense. And as for giving ice to a baby i
think its nonsense. i wud never and never
will.

lol, people wear coats and hats b/c
they're flipping cold, that's why. It's a
myth that cold gets people sick. They
have these men that annually go swimming
in freezing cold water in the middle of
the winter. I don't know where, but it's
somewhere in Canada I think. They never
got sick from it. It was on a discovery
channel urban myth tv show. Ava LOVES
cold water mixed with a little juice. her
and her daddy eat popsicles every night
before bed and she loves eating ice.

out of his office!
are babies stupid? if it hurt their throat
don't you think they'd stop drinking it?
and betsy's right, you don't get sick from
being out in the cold.

no cold doesn't make people sick. Viruses
and bacteria make people sick!
The common cold is caused by any of a
number of viruses that can involve the
upper respiratory tract. As your body
reacts against the attacking virus, you
get the symptoms of a cold -- including
nasal congestion, sneezing, and sniffles.

Yep I agree with Rachel, its all about the
viruses and bacteria..not the cold!
And actually Brayden loves to have his
juice ice cold!
But as for the milk goes, you can
definately warm it. It shouldn't hurt it
at all. And it will probably help settle
them down and go to sleep because it
releases tryptophan!

LOL!! You're right, this IS a stupid thing
to argue about.
It sounds like you get a lot of your
information from your grandmaw. You should
really update yourself.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has
COMMON SENSE enough to know that cold
weather *doesn't* cause sickness. WHEW!!

Yea! She's taking 1/2 formula 1/2 milk.
Tomorrow I'll try upping the milk a
little. I bought another can of formula
to extend the transition. She's been
eating her food like a little monster.
She ate almost non stop from 4-7.
