I'm fairly certain that the money your relative left you wasn't intended for clothes and purses and whatever it is you like to go shopping for all the time. It was most likely intended to help smooth the transition into the real world. Meaning, a down payment on a house, a car, maybe some college classes? Maybe just a nice bank account to have under your belt when you have to pay first and last month's rent plus security, plus get utilities, plus build your credit. Most people aren't given much (if any) cushion when they go out into the real world. It's frustrating to see a girl talking about all the money she WASTES (yes, you ARE wasting it) because you're off just doing whatever you want to do.

And that's another big issue. You act exactly like a 16 year old girl. You don't really act like someone who's about to be a mother. I don't think you're a very good role model right now, with the "I'll do what I want to do and that's all there is to it" attitude. It's not really something you want your kids growing up learning. A perfect example is the Trick or Treating thing. Your doctor told you that she didn't recommend you do it, but you did it anyway because, according to you, you're stubborn and didn't want to sit at home. That's not what an expectant mother does... that's what a teenaged girl does.

I think the main problem here is that everyone around you is falling over themselves to pamper you and give you all of these things, and I don't think you have any concept of what you actually have and what you're doing with it. You have no concept of money because you've never been without it. You have no idea of what life is like outside because everyone else deals with it for you. Which is fine... except you're BLOWING this great opportunity of a nice savings account for... what? Shopping for things you don't need?

It's just not attractive... any of it. It's not endearing at all.

I agree. I a quite familiar with rescues working in an Animal Hospital. No honorable rescuer makes any money through it. They are practically begging other to help with the living expenses and they are most definitely not purchasing designers labels everyday.

As for the inherited money, I am sure they did not want you to blow it either. You have a child on the way and one day you will have to pay for schooling and health care. You do not seem very responsible if you are spending it on jeans instead of a savings account for your child.

But why not save more. It is all very immature and the fact that you will be a parent soon is alarming when you consider your own representation of yourself.

Trust me Suzy. No matter how much money you have saved for her. You will ALWAYS need more! Kids grow, people lose their jos, houses get destroyed, etc Never know what will happen.

I've not heard of an actual rescuer profiting from their organization. I don't see why a certain breed would change the price, unless you're a breeder. The humane society has a flat price for all dogs, and another price for puppies. Doesn't matter if they are a mutt or a purebred. Period.

yep certain rescues charge certain fees due to the breed or age of dogs

Wee Rescue charges an adoption fee of $250 per dog.All of our dogs are seen by
a veterinarian, are up to date on their shots, have been checked for
heartworms, have been either treated or on preventative, and have
been spayed or neutered prior to adoption
For issues of liability, unfortunately, we do not adopt our small dogs to
families who have small children (under the age of 10).
FROM WEE RESCUE

lucky mutts rescue charges 125 for adult dogs and 150 for puppies

blue dog rescue is 150
austin boxer rescue charges Boxer $250 (adult) $300 (puppy)
Boxer Mix $150
Non-boxers $75

Senior Dogs (5 years and older) are $150 to adopt

from SAFE HAVEN dog rescue
Our adoption fee is $135.00 for all dogs that are 7 years and younger and $95.00 for all dogs older than 7 years and $200 for pure breeds. The adoption fee for cats is $95.00. If you are adopting two animals, the adoption fee will be reduced depending on the types and ages of the animals being adopted.

there are
those are kill shelters
to take your dog to a rescue group (most of them) you have to PAY THEM too
its pretty sad sometimes
the humane society here and the aspca are pretty good places to adopt from
but like i said its really difficult
i understand why they do what they do and why they do it that way, but it tuns lots of people away from adopting from them

they passed a new law in texas recently to be a breeder you have to have a licence. and pretty soon they will require all pets in travis county to be fixed unless you have a breeding licence, which you will have to pay for and such every year. and go through inspections and stuff so that it doesnt turn into a puppy mill
which sadly we have alot of here and they are just starting to crack down on it

That is your take. I have met many rescues and they all have to have special permits which cost lots of money. They also pay out of pocket for food, shots, surgeries and health care. Profit is little to none and it is hard to believe you can do so while still caring for the dogs correctly.

yes ive met many rescues like that too
its different in different places though
not all of them are the same
not all rescues are non profit either

and yeah vet care is not that expensive for shots and to get the dogs fixed. expecially if you have an established vet
also we have williamson county humane society, austin emancipet, animal trustees that we work with that has a complete package for $40-$59 for everything.

again it depends on where we go,who needs what done, the age and breed of the puppies/dogs

oh and alot of the dogs and pups we get have already been fixed or UTD on shots
some of them just may need an updated rabies or something
not all of them need complete vet care however all of them have a FULL VET check and health check before hand no matter what which is only $28 at lakeway vetrinary clinic which is where we go

So basically you are selling dogs? Meh. You do not sound very reputable. Rescues actually help, they do not overcharge on costs. Say it like it is, not in a way that makes you sound better than you are.

Very well put.

Another thing, Suzy always seems to show pics of the puppies she's rescued. Honestly there aren't a whole lot of young puppies in the shelters. Most are older puppies or adult dogs. That's always sat funny with me.

they need help. they need homes. thats what i do i take them and find them homes. is there seriously anyhting wrong with that? seriously?

mandi yes actually there are so many shelters over run with puppies. if town lake gets a litter of puppies under than 8 weeks they have 24 hours to get out before they will be put to sleep. so many people just dump off unwanted litters at shelters and then they get killed

i do lots of rescue from town lake
if youd like the adoption coordinators contact info for town lake and killeen animal rescue pm me and ill send it to you

and if youd like the link to my site you can have that too
it shows all of the adopted pets
over half of them were grown dogs

That's odd.....I go to the humane society every other day (literally) and I've yet to see a young puppy. I've been going since the end of September. I don't know if it has to do with where we're from or not....but I've never known shelters to be over run with young puppies.

Its Not What You Have, Its Who You Have With You............

Suzy, I totally understand wanting and having things that seem important.......but, you have to plan ahead for the future now........ person can only wear one pair of pants, a caca and one pair of shoes at a time............and carry one purse. MAterial things can be replaced at the drop of a hat. Its a status thing and so many young people are wrapped up onto this they cannot see the damage in the future. I came from nothing.........I had to use cloth diapersa nd plasstic plants 24 years ago. I could not afforid pampers. When i could wahs htem by hand..(did not afford a whashing machine, let alone go to a llaundromat) i hng htem to fry. there were days, they froze to hte clothesline........I've used hand towels and bread wrappers. I ma not too proud to admit I had it rough. Now, is a different story. I won my own home, Own rental property and lots of acerage...........I own my own 2006 F150 and we own new motorcycles. We have 401K and investments and are set up so when I can retie, I can and not worry about food, or expenses.............et alone wanting an ugly ass Louis Vitton.................JESH.....By the time Miss K gets ready for school, I know you will want herin the best privae school.........this takes money. And by sacfrificing now, you will be ready in the future. What if something happened to either of you and you could not work? Insurance only pays so much. I don't believe the others are trying to be mean, just trying to make you face reality because you are so very young, and if we had started at your age, we would be in better shape. I guess you have tomake mistakes in order to learn from them. Jusy casue you have the money now, does not mean you need to go out and blow it........I'd love to go to Italy...and could at the drop of a hat and it be paid for.......but I look forward to the future and what if something else somes alone and I want the money for it, I'd sure as hell have it...........we just have your back girlfriend.............trying to help you before you step in it too deep! HUGS oh, and for the record...I have an inheritance coming from my father................but its going to my daughters education................................. ....she just doesnt' know it yet!
