Non-hormonal Iud? Bleed + longer and more painful periods? Posted: 11-05-07 11:16am
Hello I am getting mine in in about 2
months and I just wondered what your
experiences were. My doc told me that I
could bleed to up to 3 month and he also
said that I could have longer and more
painful periods. Is this true? Thanks

I bled everyday on Mirena, the HORMONAL
IUD.
I love the copper IUD.
I NEVER BLED BETWEEN PERIODS, and my
periods were always normal 5 days long.
I never had problems.

The MIRENA hormonal IUD basically thins
out the lining of your uterus.
SOME people, like Marrianne and I, will
CONSTANTLY bleed due to the the thinness
being like an 'open sore'.
I bled for 17 months, before I finally
switched to paragard.

It was not HEAVY HEAVY Bleeding, but I did
bleed everyday.
I love the IUD so much, and it's
effectiveness is so great that I wanted to
see of my period would ever finally
disappear.
It ONLY became an issue when I thought I
had TSS, because I wore tampons a lot.
