Help Me With Birth Control Situation. Posted: 04-06-04 10:07am
Hey everyone, my name is kristin and I am
17 years old. I went to the planned
parenthood clinic, and I had all that pap
smear and told them I have had high
cholestorol when I was younger, and I am a
little bit over weight. She put me on
trilevlen 28, and I am scared to take them
because what if I get a blood vclot or
something like that. Aren't I suppost to
go on something else? I went to be other
doctor and she gave me a sample of
ortho-tricycline lo, and is that going to
be any better. Someone please help me, if
you can i_da_b

All birth control pills can cause blood
clots. I am sure the doctor will put you
on whichever pill she/he feels is best for
you.

Yeah, all birth control pills can have
that side effect. The lower the estrogen
in the pill, the less of a chance though.
Having high cholesterol doesn't increase
your chance of a blood clot and neither
does being somewhat overweight. I think
they are more concerned if you have blood
disorders, have a history of migraines or
other headaches, and maybe high blood
pressure. I have high cholesterol and
they never said anything to me about it,
but they did say something when I told
them I had bad migraines. They put me on
lower estrogen because of it
(unfortunately those pills didn't work)..
