Posted: 04-06-04 12:29pm

I would love to hear from anyone who can share their informantion with me. I had a left tkr in april of 2003 and still a year later am having problems. Stairs are a huge problem~~just the bearing down to walk up or down. Standing is difficult causing me to lean on my so called good leg. Much pain at the medial side and accross the front and down ito the shine. Shine pain and pain into my foot are a daily thing. Have been told could be allergic reaction has anyone dealt with any of these symptoms????? Would love to hear form anyone who has " been there".

Tkr Problems
Posted: 04-23-04 02:54am

I am sitting here in misery. Had a tkr on my left leg in 2002. I was 48 yrs old. For at least the last year, i've had a pain like shin splints from the implant down about 7 inches. My surgeon told me it was bursitis. I have a depuy implant. There's alot online about a class action suit against this manufacturer. Please write so we can compare notes. Thanks!

hi ~~
i am always intersested to chat with someone else who is experiencing problems with thier tkr. Actually, my pt told me to go onlline and find others who are going thrjough " similar situations" and then maybe I would see that it can and does happen. Do you have pain daily? Does this pain you feel into your shin that you describe as shin splints increase when walking stairs or just walking???? I have that same feeling it is so interesting that you talk of shin splints. I have said it feels like my bone has many hair line cracks directly down from the implant. Stairs really hurt and I get much pain radiating down into my leg and ankle/foot. Mine also is my left knee. I do have swelling and my knee is warm to touch. The surgeon said the same thing to me about the bursitis in the knee and ankle /foot. Not sure what all the shin pain is from. I am not familalr with the depuy implant. What is it????? Tell me about your recovery and pt. Have you ever been with out pain since the surgery.?? What month in 2002. ?? Hope I am not overwhelming you with all my ?????"s but hearing some similar comments is very interesting. I guess I thought I would have this surgery and boom do my pt and away I would go. And wow this has been really bad.
May I ask are you a male or female?
I am a 53 yr old female and had mine done just a year ago.
Please keep in contact.

One more thing. The swelling. I had it for at least a year following surgery. The drs say it the "healing" producing the heat. It stll gets warm every once in awhile. If you are still experiencing it, I think it's pretty normal.

Radiating Knee Pain Only When Knees Are Bent
Posted: 12-08-07 10:46am

I need help! I am 32 years old and about 1 month ago I started to feel my knees "burning" me whenever I drove. The radiating pain would stop if I was standing or walking, and it only happened after about 1/2 of driving or sitting. But now as soon as I sit, on a chair, in my car my knees start to burn and the burning sensation travels down my shins. It feels like a hot liquid is being injected into my veins from the knee downward. It is quite uncomfortable and I have to shift my position frequently to make the burning go away. Does anyone have an idea what is going on with me? I am a person that is on her feet most of the time since I am a mother to 3 young children and don't have much time to sit. I really hope that it is something temporary and not the start of some dreadful disease. Please respond. Thank you.
