Gross Topic...(warning You)

Well this is not gross to me...i cant stop
telling poeple. So at my work we have
appointments in the morning and then again
in the eveing. I go into work at 12 which
is normally when the doc leaves for his
break in between. Although today we had a
few surgeries and a puppy to euthanize.
Well the puppy was a suspect rabies case,
so the doc left and told me and the other
tech I work with to euthanize and
decapatate the dog. It was
sooooo awesome!!! A little gross in some
parts, but deffinitly an experience I wont
forget.
We were sooo excited that we got to do it,
and no one else did. You dont see many
rabies cases around our part of town...ya
know.

Yea we did becuase it was a possible
rabies case, and you have to euthanize all
rabies cases. It was not a little
puppy...it was like prolly 9-12 months
old. It was a little dog so it could of
been even a little bit older then that.
I just really like watching and getting to
help out on surgery procedures, so this
was a BIG deal for the Doc to let us do
this ourselves.

i can understand that to a certain extent
but i dont see how killing and
decapitateing an animal is awsome
i could never....
i just....i dont even know what to say
i kindof want to cry thinking about that.
where do you work at? why did you just
euthiize the dog instead of testing and
waiting to see if he had rabies?

"possible" rabies case is NOT necessarily
a rabies case. What is with the whole
decapitation thing? You were excited that
you got to euthanize and decapitate a
dog?
This has got to be some sick topic just to
get us riled up.

I didnt mean it emotionally awesome...I
mean from a surgical perspective. I am a
veterinay technician so we always assist
the vet in doing procedures...like
prepping for surgery, and getting
everything set up. So this was a big deal
to us that we actually got to do something
by ourselves, and he trusted us to.

I think this person is just trying to
upset people. Either that or they have
serious issues.

You said
to euthanize and decapatate the dog. It
was sooooo awesome!!!
You put a very happy smiley face after
that sentece. When i read that sentences
my jaw dropped. I can not see how putting
a puppy to sleep and cutting its head off
can be awesome from any kind of
perspective. sorry

i just im sorry but this is rediculous and
i dont know how the hell you can be proud
of something like that?
its not awsome
its not funny
and its not cool
its not a good or happy thing
your obligated to wait TEN days from the
time an animal is tested for rabies until
they are diagnosed DIRECTLY or are + for
rabies before euthinization. so i would
love to let you know that what your vet
did was illigal. what YOU did was illegal
and it was wrong
and i dont get why the hell you would even
tell us about this? why in the f*#* do we
want to know?

Ok umm i dont know any other way to
explain this excpet it would be like
working in the ER of a hospital and a
person coming in with a very very rare
disease or injury...and you getting to
participate and witness that rare thing.
And the brain of the animal has to be sent
to the laboratory to be tested for rabies.
I didnt mean to post it to make everyone
think I like killing animals, that is the
worst part of my job. I am just really
interested in surgeries, and you dont see
this kind of thing very often, and I was
excited that I was there to witness it.
Sorry

Everyone should just calm down. It sounded
like she said decapitating the dog was
awesome at first, but she has explained
herself. Get off her back.

so that changes the law...how? its still a
law in the united states to wait a minimum
of 10 days and for the animal to recieve
testing before it can be euthinized for
rabies. they should have quarenteend the
poor thing and tested it
not chop of his head and kill it
