Research suggests that glutathione taken
orally is not well absorbed across the GI
tract. A study of acute oral
administration of a very large dose (3
grams) of oral glutathione found that it
is not possible to increase the
circulation of glutathione in a clinically
relevant way. However, glutathione
concentrations can be raised by increased
intake of the precursor "cysteine".
Cysteine is taken like N-acetyl L-cysteine
(NAC). Reported side effects from taking
NAC are: blurred vision, nausea and
vomiting.
