So i am in love with Harry Potter books and movies! I was wondering if there are any other Harry Potter fans here? And what did you guys think of Dumbledore being gay?

I love HP! The new film comes out on dvd on Monday yays. And really I don't see the point in Dumbledore being gay. It's not a bad thing it was just never indicated in the books.
I dunno, I never thought of Dumbledore as gay, or even straight. He was just...there. I'd never thought of him actually loving anyone.

It helps in the plot line with his rival. He didnt want to see the evil because he loved him.

I am in love with the series. I am so sad it is all over Sad

Ah, there'll be more. She can write about when they've grown up and what they do. I know there's a brief bit at the end of book 7 but it's not in great detail. More harry potter!!!

I forget what happened lol. I didn't much like the very last chapter, it made me wanna puke a bit and it was so predictable, and I felt like half of book 7 could be omitted anyway cuz some of it was pointless and it was the end that made it worth the wait. I accidentally spoilt it for my friend though by shouting out the name of someone who dies at the end, cuz I forgot she hadn't read it lol. Ohh and I know what you mean about forgetting everything. It's like you're just there, you're IN hogwarts lol. That's why I love reading, you can be someone completely different Smile

Well for me the last book is the one I enjoyed least. Until that it was the 5th but I expected this spectacular adventure-filled book for the last one but most of the story was about when they were in hiding and stuff. I'll probably read it again because I sometimes randomly go through the series lol and I might enjoy it more 2nd time around but I forget most of what happened anyway lol but I did nearly cry at one bit.

SPOILERS HERE

when Harry is walking to his 'death' to see Voldemort, and all of the ghosts of his family are with him. I nearly cried there, and no book has ever made me actually cry. It was just so sad, and I felt that bit was really well-written.

frankly I don't understand why she would bother mentioning Dumbledore's sexuality when it has no bearings on the plot. I can't see it doing anything but giving some people even more reason to hate the series for no reason.

Yes, I saw no point to her sudden announcement about that. I think she just wanted more publicity as controversy arise from concerned parents. It is implied in the books that Dumbledore is gay, I always thought he was a bit of a homo and a pedophile. It was a good series, the last one was incredibly predictable. I felt like Miss Cleo while I was reading that book, pretty much knew what had to happen. Ending was incredibly dumb, children could make similar endings "harry married ginny, ron married hermione, they made some babies, named them after all the important people, send them off to hogwarts for school, the end. Wow -_-

I think a moderator such as yourself should be more careful about the words you use. I find the word 'homo' to be offensive, as well as the insinuation that homosexuality and paedophilia go hand in hand.

That said, I'd be interested to see some evidence of Dumbledore being a paedophile. Got any quotations?

Point taken -_-, sorry I'm running on about 7 hours of sleep on the last 4 days. I didn't mean that homosexuality (was too lazy to spell the entire thing out) and pedophilia go hand in hand, simply that I felt Dumbledore character has implied both. The homosexuality arises from his affection from his long time friend and greatest enemy, which Rowlings has already announced (I believe she said you can find the implications on the letters between them or something of the sort). The pedophilia, I just pondered that from the odd way in which he presented his particular love for Harry. At times it didn't seem like the love of simply father/son caretaker/boy relationships. I'll look it up another time, I've slept 2 hours today and working on a essay and studying for a test tonight.

Sorry if I had offended anyone with my poor choice of words.
