Anyone Have a Mirena Coil?
Posted: 11-11-07 07:27am

I just had one fitted, without doing any research (silly of me - the doctor described it in such glowing terms and she is usually great and i trust her). Now after a quick google, i find a long list of side effects and many many complaints. I'm a bit scared! Has anyone used this coil and what are your experiences please?

I haven't used it but I plan on getting it after my baby is born. Remember that you will not necessarily get all or any of the side effects. All hormonal birth control has the risk of side effects.

They have to mention possible effects, even if they only happen in 2% of women on Mirena coil.

This is because of lawsuits and liability.

5 Years With Mirena :o)
Posted: 11-18-07 08:56am

I had the Mirena IUD after my second child. I am now about to have it removed because the 5 years are up & we have decided to have another child. I have been EXTREAMLY happy with Mirena, not only did it work sucessfully, it has reduced my menstral cycle from 9 days to about 3, which is wonderful! I have not experanced any side effects at all. I will have to admit the initial having to check the strings was a little wierd, & I had to move them to the side for my husbands sake Surprised) but once we got that solved in the first month, everything has been great. I am so comfotable with it now, I am nervous about having it removed next month.

A lot of women LOVE it. I personally had a not-so-great experience, but in my opinion, it's still worth trying.

Kellitaylor- when I got it removed- I hardly even felt it. Don't worry at all.
