Pain In Ribs/Mid/Upper Back When Twisting to the Right Posted: 11-11-07 13:39pm
Hi, I'm 23. About a year ago while doing a
standard one arm bicep curl with my right
arm I felt like something in my rib on the
mid-section of the right side of my back
gave in. I thought I was fine so I
continued working out for a week more.
Then I had my cardio day and in the middle
of the workout I felt like I went
paralyzed almost in my mid/upper back. I
couldn't twist at all. I carefully lied on
the ground but I had a hard time breathing
because breathing only made my back hurt
worse. I couldn't get myself off the
ground for 20 minutes. When I finally got
myself up I went straight to the
Chiropractor. The Chiropractor said that 3
of my ribs on the right side where the
ribs meet the vertebra where lifted. He
put me on my side, twisted me, and there
was a big crack in that area. He said that
should do it, but now I still can't do any
twisting movements on my right side. When
I do try and twist I feel pain by the
muscle by the vertebra on that side, on
the right of that muscle, and also in my
ribs on my side. I also wake up every
morning with pain. It feels like my rib
cage is fragile, it always hurts, I can't
twist, and it's driving me crazy. What's
wrong with me??? It's been a year. I'm
currently teaching English in China, and
the doctors here don't have a clue. Please
help me understand what could possibly be
wrong with me and what they can do to fix
me up so I can tell them what to look for
and what needs to be done.

Alignment starts with breathing. Can you
take in a big breath without pain?

Deep breathing is not a problem. I had a
MRI done but the chinese docs said it
looked fine. They think it's the muscle,
so they're doing some kind of wave therapy
and also heat on it. It's been 3 days so
far. No changes yet

You poor thing. I hope you're up and back
to shape soon.
Would you try the traditional medicine and
acupuncture while you're there?
