I
started experiencing a heart beat sound in
my left ear last year. I couldn't hear it
when I put my finger in my ear but I hear
it much of the time. I went to a GP and an
ent ,both said that they could not find
anything wrong with me.They said that
stress had induced my hearing my heartbeat
of massive weight loss. They also told me
that there was nothing anyone could do
about it .There was no sign of anything
sinister wrong. I have read everything I
could find about this condition ranging
from sinus and allergies to artery
dysfunction to just about anything it
could be. I did find out at the time that
I had a benign murmur which is odd since
no one ever mentioned this to me before in
my life. I asked the doctor if I needed an
ekg or anything and they advised me that
it wasnt necessary. I have lived with this
condition a year , most of the time it has
been easy to ignore or accept. Its been one
year exactly since I went to the doctor
and have another appointment scheduled .
I am worried in that year that maybe
something has gotten worse and the
heartbeat has even gotten louder in the
last few weeks. Its very odd ,when I bow my
head down I can stop hearing it .
Sometimes when im outside I don't hear it
but if it is the slightest bit quite it
seems to boom in my head and then other
times it seems to subside. I had my bp
checked and had a good checkup at the
time. I saw a forum about this online here
and nobody can seem to really pinpoint if
it is serious or not. The ent I saw said
that he could persue it further but it
would be a waste of money and time and
there was no reason for further test. He
checked for tumor and etc .. It is very
confusing since there are a million and
one reasons for it but then again there
are many reasons that are unknown. Could
this heartbeat sound be a result of my
murmur and if so could it have gotten
worse ..or the fact that I have to visit
my doctor again causing it to flair and
cause anxiety? I seem to have allergies
and sinus problems a lot and it may in
fact run paralel to them. Also it feels as
if my ear is wet inside many times and it
is not also I have pain in the ear,but the
doctors could not find anything about the
ear that could be causing this.By the way
I also have tmj and wondering if all this
could be contributed from the tmj? Any
ideas ?
I just want to know im ok and to be frank
im a little concerned about going to the
doctor ...My imagination is going crazy.
Thanks in advance

I have the same loud noise in my ear and
have for more than a year now. I have had
two tumors in my spine and deal with a lot
of pain daily. I got very frustrated
because it took them two years to finally
do the test for my back tumors and its
also taking that long for this noise. It
comes with headaches, ear trouble and it
effects everything I do. Now I am losing
my hearing. Just a word of advice, you
know your own body better than any one.
There is nothing wrong with making them
test for everything. I am now numb on my
entire left side because they didn't
listen to me. It may not be anything but
be persistent you only have one life, one
body. I am only 28 with three children and
I cant do a lot of the things that a young
mom should do with them because I wasn't
persistent. Now I go in with my own
research and tell them which tests to do.
Still getting them done. Find a family
doctor who will be as persistent as you. I
know that it is very difficult please hang
in there, its worth it.
