Boy Or Girl!?
Posted: 11-16-07 00:44am

Hello! Ok, so I am 14 weeks pregnant, and not quiet sure when I will find out the sex of the baby. I have an appt. at 16 weeks, but my OBGYN told me I won't find out that day, even though my friend found out the sex at 15 weeks! What's going on? Can anyone let me know when is the "right" time to check the sex?

We could hardly tell with me at 17 weeks. I didn't find out i was having a girl until 20 weeks. The "Ideal" time is 20 weeks and above.

I will be out of town when I am going to be near 20 weeks (for XMAS.) That means I would need to wait till January!

Well they can do it any time from about 16 weeks on, but you can't always tell at that time. I know a few girls that went in at 16 weeks, and couldn't tell, and didn't get another US. Just depends on your doctor, and insurance i think. I could be wrong though.

I found out at 22 weeks because my dr. doesn't do ultrasounds in his office. it all depends if you dr. does them on the spot or if they are done at the hospital.

I was told you can usually get an IDEA of what the baby is around 16 weeks, but don't count on it to decorate the nursery. They can usually confirm it around 20 weeks.

It can be detected with little assurance as early as 12 weeks. No guarantees like Katie says.

How is that possible??? Would she just refuse to uncross her legs during the ultrasounds??

My cousin is going on 30 weeks now, and has never been able to see what she is having. Not all babies like to show off what they got Smile

Another Question
Posted: 11-16-07 19:43pm

I am a bit confused! Left and right I am hearing everyone saying that if you have a craving, dont deprive yourself, just indulge. Then I keep reading that you should stay away from all these foods, that I just so happen to crave (ex: ice cream, sweets, chips, etc.) Can anyone give some advice?

Food is not my friend these days, but when i did crave stuff i would eat it. I didn't crave stuff very often, and if it was something like junk food i would try and just limit myself to small portions. I hated sweets at the begining. In the middle i loved them, and now i hate them again lol.

i found out at 16 weeks.
If you go in have something sugary and dont pee so the baby is active. it will increase your chances.
There are some big no no foods (like fish high in mercury)
but eat what you want in moderation. Its okay to have ice cream, just dont eat a gallon. The biggest concern is you get all your nutrients

I found out I was having a boy at 15 weeks 1 day. It was very obvious. The u/s tech put the picture up on the screen and said what do you guys think it is, my husband and I both blurted out "a boy"!!! It was then confirmed at 18 weeks but I don't think a confirmation was necessary seeing as how it was obvious the first time. However I guess boys are easier to spot than girls.
