I Have Very Often Vaginal Thrush..it Makes My Life Difficult..
Posted: 11-16-07 16:49pm

hi, my problem is that i have vaginal thrush (or colpitits, or candita) often.. i go to the doctor, i take the prescription i do everything he says, i am cured for a while and after i am again infected.
I am not wearing strings or thongs, i am not wearing nylon or polyester underwear, I iron all my underwears, i am wearing only cotton large underwears, i am not wearing tight jeans..mostly skirts..i have it even without sex, i have it also after sex sometimes, i eat yogurts and stuff like that, i am not taking other medication, i checked my sugar level in my blood, I am following my doctor's instructions closely, i am not using public toilets, i am washing my underwear and that region with special soaps (different for clothes and vagina), i am very careful with pant liners..i think i do all and if i think more i will remember more..but the thing is that i have it again and again...
my doc said that it maybe be stress..i do not know what is going on..i am also having test pap twice a year..it is clean..
Is there anyone having the same experience? any ideas???

could you possibly be allergic to condoms. I have had a similar experience and finally concluded that I am allergic to condoms.

ive been suffering with this for years on and off. the only way to completley get rid off this to eliminate yeast and sugar from your diet. (not easy) read up on candida and your be surprised how this yeast infection can get into your blood stream and make you feel very unwell. pesseries and creams only relieve the symptoms they dont cure it and remove it from your system. not all cases are this severe and pesseries may be enough for some. however if you get getting re acurring attacks it might be well worth trying the yeast and sugar free diet. i succesfully got rid of mine, but due to cravings for chocolate ect. ive got the wretched thing back again so am having to go back to square one! did you know antibiotics can cause a flare up? always eat plenty of live yugurt when taking these.
only just joined this forum so hope i havnt broken any rules in my write up! apologies in advance if i have......sue

Sue,

It may be worth it to use probiotics to help put the normal flora back into the vagina. Your partner may be infected with yeast and keep giving it back to you. He may need to be tested and treated as well.

Birth control can give you candida too...you didn't mention that you were on that or not, so I thought I'd give that little tip.

Imjustawoman is right: sometimes the only thing left to do is to go on a diet specifically targeting this ailment. You don't have to be on it forever either.

Your partner can be spreading the infection to you too, but not just sexually. He can give it to you by even kissing you, so it's important to have him tested. Guys often carry, but to not exhibit the signs of, yeast infections.

I've heard probiotics can work very well if nothing else is working.

Dear amyamy,

I had the same problem as yours in my first till the second year in the university. I went constantly to my GYN for a candida treatement. I was living with a guy and obviously he took the treatement too. Doctor told us it is compulsory to have sex with a condom for at least a month after the treatement finished (said the recovery period could be different for both of us) and we did so. As soon as we stopped using the condom and substitute it with the birth control pill the discharge appeared again. The truth was that he had sex with several other girls meanwhile and probably didn`t tell them about our condition (how typical). So we just spread between ourselves the candida over and over for and year. Well I solved the problem when I broke up with him and the funny thing is that when I went to my doctor for the next 6month check up she smiled and asked me have I changed my partner since everything seems to be OK. I am married now for 5 years and I have forgotten the discomfort of the candida, discharges etc.

One more thing - I suppose you are using an intimate gel for the everyday hygiene, not a soap.

I really hope the reason for your candida or whatever it is is not the same as mine was but if you think that what I shared seems familiar to you... you know what to do. I am wishing you best of luck and I am sure you will get rid of the discomfort soon!

hey girls, thnx for the tips!

The only thing I have not yet tried is the diet! thank you imjstawoman.I hope it will help, but when you say that you "eliminated sugar from your diet" you mean zero sugar? i mean that all products contains sugar..even milk..I just checked it, yogurt, bread, everything...
Also I have to say that lately I also have blood mixed with the discharge..everytme I feel some inching i check and I see some blood..it was not like that before..i asked my doctor, but he gave me birth control pills..actually i see that doctors do not really care..they just say sth genaral and they send you back home..but this blood really makes me worried..
Lately I also have a new boyfriend..and I feel a bit unconfortable with all that..(he is not the problem, since all these symptoms i had before him..) however he looks really sympathetic about evertyhing..

Peanut allergy?
Posted: 06-28-08 23:46pm

My sister suffered for years only to find out she had a reaction to everything with peanuts or peanut oil.

Check labels and eliminate all peanuts/peanut oils (have to ask what they use when dining out too) and see what happens. May also want to have a total hormone workup in the lab. Ask your doctor.
