Cramping After Taking Out Nuvaring
Posted: 11-18-07 04:03am

I was on LoEstrin24 for one month...didnt bleed on the placebo days....went to gyno on first day of new pack (tuesday) and she wanted me to try the nuvaring and that she didnt think I was preg for not bleeding- just responding to new meds took two test since- both say neg...so I got the ring and put it in...felt fine until I went to bed...lot of pain, couldnt sleep, ended up taking it out at 2am. Didnt want to be unprotected all month so I took my first pill of my next LoEstrin pack and have continued to take them. Woke up at 6am feeling like I wanted to vomit. Stayed that way for several hours. Assumed I overdosed on b/c or caught a bug from my coworker. It is now Sunday and Ive had low grade pain and cramping in the uterus area since I took the ring out on Tuesday. Dont really notice it all that much during the day when Im occupied but at night I really notice the pain and it keeps me up. I have about 24 hours before I can call my doc but Im getting nervous about if Im in trouble. Any ideas?

It sounds like it's due to the hormones and I don't think it's due to pregnancy since the tests were negative. You may need to stop hormonal birth control for a month and let your body calm down before resuming loestrin.

Its reasonable that you didn't get your period the first time because you had just started new birth control. You couldn't have od'd on birth control at all. But nausea is a common symptom of many types of birth control.

Sometimes you will have to stay on a birth control form for a few months before your body adjusts to it and you don't have any side effects.

Yes, I think that everyone's body reacts differently to birth control. I've only used Nuvaring and have never had any problems whatsoever.
